Do you not see the problem with this trade. Bringing in another starter goalie is just gonna screw over Shesterkin. He has earned the right to be the clear cut number 1 but when you bring in Andersen it makes it look like the organization has no faith in our new starter and Lundqvist showed in the playoffs that as long as the defense isn't dumb he can still be a good back up

If you buy him out, must wait a year to re-sign him I think? Could be wrong but I think those are the rules? Think you can trade for him if someone else signs him. Not too sure.

I saw this elsewhere. My thoughts on this is simply put if AG is gone, fine but NYR have several goalies in the pipeline who are not ready. Andersen has 1 year on his deal. He won’t be re-signed and maybe plays say 20 games before TDL and is traded to a contender, and whomever the starter is in HFD can play as Igor backup for the final 25-30 games starting 5-7? Maybe Wall or Huska.

Yeah I’d rather keep Georgiev. There’s no room for Kapanen cause we’re hoping to bring up Kravtsov. We have no need for Andersen with Shesty bud.

You know this trade isn't realistic... Toronto wouldn't do Kapanen for Georgiev 1 for 1 and it's not close.

Who truly knows what happened. Supposedly JG just was hesitant to trade AG until he saw enough of Igor to decide who will be the future. He supposedly had AG on the block just if the offers were too good to pass up.
