Realistic Anaheim Situation

Description
Lets assume that the internal cap is around 70M. The ducks need to net $7M in cap savings after replacing players so they realistically need to dump closer to $9M.

Anaheim fans need to come to a sobering conclusion, this cannot be accomplished without either:

1. A team takes on a bad contract like Kesler's at the cost of a blue chip prospect. Just ask Chicago and Florida.

2. Better, more expensive players are traded for lesser, cheaper players and/or picks.

No team is going to trade the Ducks players that are as good as what they are offering... just much cheaper.

Even if they found a dance partner to take on Kesler's contract and he waived his NMV, they would need to pull off some smaller moves to get within their theoretic cap.

I don't think anyone is taking Kesler's contract, especially jersey who already have a young Kesler (Henrique) at a better cap situation.

I don't either. Despres is a hard contract to unload as well with concussion concerns. That really only leaves Fowler and Vatanen as movable contracts. Maybe stoner if they were willing to sweeten the deal with another d prospect. They really can't afford to part with Silfverberg either as they are shallow up front.

All I know is that the Ducks are a team very deep in NHL ready defencemen and prospects and the Jets are a team that is very deep in forward prospects and has a ton of cap space to absorb a contract. It would seem that a deal is there but the reality of returns when dumping salaries is unrealistic in this forum.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word realistic.

Sometimes....a team will have to make a deal which doesn't get them player value in return, but gets them cap relief. The Kessel and Phanuef deals by the Leafs are good examples.
Kesler, a terrible contract. An example when a team (Ducks) make a trade fora guy for(2 second rounders) on near expiring contract. Then to supposedly recapture the value of the 2 second rounders, they feel obligated to sign the player....at almost a hometown PREMIUM.
Can the Ducks give away Stoner without taking money back? Can Detroit, a nice fit for Fowler take his contract without sending money back to the Ducks? What I write next will sound crazy, but if the signing of Rakell and Lindholm is needed by the Ducks, maybe even putting Fowler on waivers (and claimed) could be worth it.

I could name a handful of teams who would in a heartbeat remade at least a 2nd rounder for Fowler. In what world do you put him on waivers?

Agree with the OP.
It really makes me wonder why they took on the Bernier contract? I believe cash owed is less than the cap hit, but still an expensive backup plan.

Also, end of the day I think we may see Lindholm play on a qualifying offer, which led push the issue off until next off-season.

Once the ducks start jettisoning contracts to resign players, ducks fans will see what true value is.
