Description
The Bennett and Rittich trades are just examples. Could be to any team for mid(ish) round picks, so spare me the diatribe about how "my team doesn't need that player" lol because the value is just fine.

If it’s only going to take 5 yrs at 5 million to sign Markstrom then I can’t see any way he wouldn’t stay in Vancouver.

If he hits the open market he’s looking at 6m+ imo

Markstrom is a bad bet at that term and cap hit given he broke out at 30.

I agree a 3rd is to much for Rittich but just not as graphically as you.

lol it's a Vegas 3rd so probably like 85-90th overall and it's two drafts away.

That's sweet **** all for a 27 year old league average to slightly above average goalie who's gone 59-32-17 the last three years.

The odds you even get an NHL player at that part of the draft are slim to none, and in this case they'd be getting a proven platoon goalie with potential to still blossom into a full time starter.

Ok but a 3rd for a back up is a bit steep.

Both Fischer and Jankowski need changes of scenery, but considering that Jankowski, is making double that of Fischer, and Arizona's cap situation is dire, we probably decline as is.

Hmm I haven’t seen him be platooned into the current playoff series..
Let’s face it, he’s a backup. A backup that has been platooning bc of Flames poor net options.
But your argument has made our point. Why would the Wings give up a 3rd rd pick, for a platoon goalie that’s not a true 1.

No, he's not a back up hes a young platoon goalie. He's started over half of the Flames games the last two seasons at age 26 and 27. That's not a back up, that's a platoon guy. He's not playing right now because as is the case with all platoon situations, the Flames are going with the hot hand at the moment, and that is currently Talbot, who is 5 years older and actually been a #1 in the league before and been to the post season before as well. No shame in that.

Also, you aren't getting a true #1 goalie anywhere for a 3rd round pick, that's why it's just for a 3rd round pick. If he was a true #1 it would cost a lot more.

The guy is only 27 and only been in the league for 3 years. That is nothing for a goalie, many of whom don't blossom until their late 20's. He's a proven platoon goalie who still has potential to be a full time starter one day soon.

And finally, I even stated in the description it didn't have to be Detroit, it could be any team looking for what I've described here.
