No Zaitsev is definetly pulling a second round pick back in this trade

If that’s the case then I’d rather VAN just gives up a 1st to get rid of Eriksson and not take back Zaitsev. There are way better Dman options in free agency.

Honestly probably better for ottawa to keep Zaitsev and take a first with eriksson. They have so much cap spcafe anyways it isn't a big deal

True, the cap space is there. But I was thinking the huge cash difference might be worth something to Melnyk as well. But maybe not.

From a Canucks standpoint this would only make sense if it saved them from giving up any more high end futures. Like I said in the description of my first post, i’d be fine with a later round pick or pick swap, but having to add a 2nd rounder to this deal would defeat the purpose of it.

On second thought maybe VAN doesn’t offer this under any circumstance 😂

It saves him noey paying Zaitsev but if he trades him just for money he is going to have to pay the same money to a different player to hit cap floor still. Just take the first with it
