The point is that with McDavid at center, you dont need an elite winger to replicate Marner. You can replace him with a very good winger and be ahead points wise as well as cap wise.

No you can't, if that was the case why has Edmonton been so poor for the past 3 years. Is Kassian equal to Marner because of McDavid? No he isn't. McDavid scores no matter who he plays with but he doesn't turn marginal players into stars. Marner is a star and he makes players better so does Matthews and so does McDavid but just anyone doesn't equal Marner playing with McDavid, there is zero evidence of that. It's just wrong.

That's why I added Neil who ties up an additional 5.75M

McDavid + Neal = 18.25M

McDavid + Neal + Russell = 22.25M

Marner + Matthews = 22.5M

I think Edmonton definitely wins this trade until Russell and Neal come off the books. After that Toronto wins.

If you trade away the best player in the world, you lose the trade. this would be dumb for Edmonton

Sure you would and you'd spend that extra 10 million on AA and Tofoli and not have 2 game breakers instead of 1

I didn't say I would do that, but ill pass on Marner at 10.8. Leafs are learning how bad the deal is the hard way by suffering at the blue line

Okay that's fine but you made a completely different argument as to why you wouldn't do the trade earlier which was what I was referring to.

I honestly don't know if this is good for the Leafs. For some reason the Leafs have made the playoffs in each of their seasons with Matthew's and Marner. I cant say the same for Edmonton and McDavid.

That is just false and total fan rhetoric. Marner is not a problem in TO, McDavid making 12.5 million in Edmonton isn't a problem nor is Draisaitl's deal (which is a steal) where Edmonton has problems is all their other crap deals. They also have zero depth, and spent big money on old guys like Sekera, and Russel, etc TO doesn't have bad contracts, if the worst contract they have is for a 90+ point player, that isn't at all a problem. Stars making star money is never a problem. Patrick Kane isn't a problem in Chicago, Eichel isn't a problem in Buffalo. Crosby signed for a higher cap hit than Matthews did on his last deal. (The cap went up and the deal looks great now but at the time it was higher than what Matthews signed for) Malkin's was much higher. None of those deals are problems. James Neal is a problem, Lucic is a problem, Anders Lee signed through his 37th birthday making 7 million is a problem. This constant capfriendly "Truth" that the leafs overpaid their stars is just ****ing stupid.

What the **** are you talking about. You are the one who denies racism is a problem in Alberta. That in itself is racism. I'm tired of your stupidity. It's people like you that keep the rest of the world from evolving into a better society. Honestly **** off and just troll someone else. You are a homer, a clown and most importantly an ignorant ****ing idiot.

tears of joy

U mad?

I didn't deny racism exists in Alberta, I proved wrong your claim that "most racists live" in Alberta and that Edmonton would be a terrible landing spot for a black player. Huge difference, but I doubt you're intelligent enough to understand.

You were wrong, but you aren't mature enough to admit it so you resort to swearing and name calling and telling people that they "shouldn't exist". Nice!

You sounds exactly like every white nationalist I have ever had the displeasure of arguing with. Deny everything, take everything out of context and then blatantly alter the words just to prove a point of how cool you are while hiding behind a fake name and lobbing insults because you are way too scared to say anything to anyone face to face. Just a fragile coward who gets off by trolling on the internet, I am done with you. You are the poster boy for people this site should just get rid of. Homer assholes who want to fight with everyone who disagrees with them. Grow up.

Im a rangers fan, theres no fan bias. All I am saying is that trading the best player in the world is a dumb idea. Im surprised you don't agree but its really fine if you don't

I agree trading the best player in the world is dumb. It would only happen if he wanted to be traded but if TO offered to take on Neal and Russell and sent Matthews and Marner the other way it would be a slam dunk win for Edmonton. Which was what was proposed here.

I mean if he demanded a trade I guess its different...but that doesn't mean these players are worth eachother, It has more to do with leverage in the given situation

If Edmonton called up Dubas as proposed this, Dubas would hang up. And Dubas would never propose this.
