how about caufield mantha 1v1

Hell no from Detroit, Caufield has not proved he is capable of being an NHL scorer yet! Also Habs probably decline based on their view of Caufield

LOL. Romanov is currently playing 3rd pairing in the KHL, he is in no way a surefire top-4 in the NHL and has virtually zero chance of becoming a legit 1st pairing defenseman in this league.

KHL teams are notorious for their lack of trust in younger players, That coupled with the depth of CSKA's roster is why Romanov never played higher than the third pair not his lack of ability. Besides that is exactly whaat the NHL does as well start young guys on the third pair and slowly move him up the lineup.

He's playing 12 minutes a game because he didn't earn more time. Full stop.

If he was a rookie I could understand, but this was his 2nd full season in the league. And people here like to call Phillip Broberg a bust, despite the Swede being 2-and-a-half years younger... smh.

You guys are both wrong, Romanov played some games on the top pairing with Nesterov, but never special units. The majority of the game he played were on the 3rd pairing, normal he WAS 18 yo. This year, the team says if you don’t sign an extension with us right now, you won’t see ice time anymore. Romanov really wanted to come overseas and decline, so is ice time went to 4 MIN a GAME. Not because he was bad or couldn’t handle the other team, just because he didn’t want to extend with is team. That sucks for is development, but the guy is already a beast so no stress

I did not realize he played top pairing earlier in the year my bad but my point still stands. He is or has the potential to be a top pairing guy in the NHL. he even ranks 5th on the TSN top NHL affiliated prospects list (FYI Byram ranked 4th). So don't tell me his ceiling is a 3rd pairing guy and expect anyone to actually believe that garbage.

He was saying he has top 4 fine but not top pairing and that’s where he’s wrong. He has that potential, even Vlasic was a top LHD without the offensive touch and Romanov will be better offensively than Vlasic IMO

Basically he is a third pairing guy with a slim chance at top 4

You're overvaluing him. He isn't a top pair D.

he's not Bowen Byram or Victor Soderstrom (that Yotes prospect is underrated asf) but he's still considered one of the top prospect outside of the NHL. I'll say he's close to the value (bit lower than) of Rasmus Sandin.

He isn't the ONLY one but he is the best shot. Norlinder has the potential as well but he isn't as physical as Romanov.

Norlinder seems like a promising prospect but I'll wait before putting him in the same category as Romanov.

His icetime wasn't cut until game 2 of the playoffs, it had nothing to do with whether he extended or not.

I stated that he played 3rd pairing and that is a fact. I wasn't wrong at all.
