Henrique might get a late first in 2021 at the deadline, but probably not, seeing as he's making 5.85 million a year for 4 more years until hes 34. If you got a first you'd have to take back salary too.
Asplund was playing 4th line minutes for the most part and projects as a solid bottom six forward who can play all 3 spots.
Just for fun, Richard rakell had 4 points in his first 22 NHL games (I didnt check the game logs to see how he did the first 8 games the next season)
Did you just compare Asplund to Rickard Rakell? lmfao. I guess the big difference between the 2 is how reasonable a turn around would be. Rakell had a lot more success in the OHL/AHL and just about every other step of the way than Asplund and he was also much younger in those NHL seasons. Theres no comparison to be made between the 2 or any reasonable expectation Asplund will turn it around as Rakell did as a 'bottom 6 forward who can play all 3 spots'.
Having to take back salary, well you are giving them 5 million in salary for the next 3 years here, it has a cost. Also taking back salary is not a big problem for the Ducks right now. You are way short with Risto. I see that round 2 pick you have in 2020 and think it starts with that.
From a negotiating point of view, the Ducks are in no hurry. They arnt going to be good next season, they can wait to find the right right dman (which noone in the league has faith in Risto being right now). The Sabres however have just been put on a timeline by Eichel and co. They want to see change quickly.
