You're on something I want if you think the Jets don't give all that too. Lmao, your bias is showing through, you should try to be more neutral when discussion prospects and your favourite team xD

I got the idea with it, I think you just overvalued Ehlers a little specifically for our need. I think a package of something like Connor, Roslovic, a 1st and something else would be a better fit in the long run. This isn't because Ehlers isn't the better player, it's that he's like a Nino Niederreiter on steroids. He's hot and cold offensively, but always elite defensively. Connor is much more of a goal scorer which is why I'd suggest we target him over Ehlers. Just my thoughts though

I prefer Ehlers over Connor and Laine because of his defensive metrics. Also, I will say that Pionk was very good this season, both in terms of point production and Corsi possession stats at even-strength. The question with him is whether that season is a fluke or a symbol of huge progression in his game. This deal is basically a bet on the latter on the Canes' side, while it's a sell-high bet for the Jets.

His PDO was through the roof, meaning he had the luckiest season of his career. His xGA and xGF were both horrible, and it's just not worth going after him in place of Dougie (Pionk that is)

Ehlers is great all around, but his primary ability is what we already have. We need a sniper, not someone else to kill penalties. It's why I think Connor is the better target.

Oh sorry, you're 2nd favourite team! Winnipeg would give up a good winger, bottom pair D man, a meh prospect and a 1st for a future Norris winner! Wake up dude, you're living in fandom! You clearly have no clue what you're on about.

There was a meaningful progression in Pionk's game, though, particularly in terms of possession stats. His great year wasn't ALL luck. I do see where you're coming from, though, as far as PDO is concerned. He certainly is a strong candidate for regression, although perhaps not by as much as anticipated if his puck possession skills truly have improved by that much.

His regression is going to be bad... He's not a top 4 D man, he's just gone from replacement level to bottom pair.

Honestly, the two biggest assets in this deal are Hamilton and Ehlers. The main defensive piece in this deal that Winnipeg is giving up is Heinola, NOT Pionk. The Bean for a 1st swap is the difference between a Heinola-level prospect (no joke of a player) and a Caufield/Zegras-caliber guy. As shown by my roster above, Pionk is basically treated as a bottom-pairing guy with PP skills and the potential for more. The way that I built this deal was essentially like this:

Hamilton (extended) and a 7th for Ehlers and Heinola
Fleury and Dzingel (50% Retained) for Pionk
Bean for a 2022 1st (which facilitates the Gostisbehere deal and balances the lack of Caufield or Zegras)

I want a goal scorer and a 3rd piece. Can you not read the other comments or are you just not very good at grasping the comment? I've suggested something like Roslovic, Connor 1st and a little more for Dougie, but you wouldn't know that!

Why would you not then make them individual deals?

The Canes made three separate deals with the Rangers because each of those deals were based on context-dependent valuations, including a then-prospect that only wanted to play for the Rangers and no one else (Adam Fox), and a deal centered around Expansion Draft maneuvering (Gauthier for Keane). This deal isn't context-dependent at all. It's about building two win-now packages for different needs and different salary structures.
