Columbus declines. They have no interest in anything you’re offering. We have no use for more middle 6 wings or LHD, we have plenty of them.

No need to sign Dermott if your going to trade him.

Kap, Demott and Johnson are worth more than that you traded all 3 pieces they have in 1 deal and only got an average RD back

I don't get why so many Leaf fans think that now that we have Lehtonen we have to trade Dermott. Injuries happen and having NHL calibre depth is vital. Also I don't get why anyone wants Anderson and his 1 goal.

It all about the cap and what Dermott is going to ask for. if he signs low the Leafs can keep him if he wants too much then the Leafs can;t afford to keep him and upgrade the RD

Dermott is 23. He is better then most top-4 RHD were at that age. He is a future 2nd, maybe even 1st paring defensemen imo. We SHOULD NOT trade him. He also has excellent defensive stats, and has the best xGa TM REL/60 on the leafs.

Will the Leafs will with him int he next 4 years? unfortunately Dubas shortened the window by not locking up Matthews and Marner to 8 year dealers if he wants north of $1.2-$2 he will be moved

He won't. They will figure out a way to keep him. I could honestly see him as the right partner for Rielly given his defensive stats and excellent puck moving skills.

Lehtonen and Sandin can and have played RD. What hand they shoot isn't really that big a deal. Only in Bab's world it is a major deal.

Anderson has proven 20 goal potential. I agree that you don;t trade all three of Kap, Dermott, & Johnsson at the same time but the fact is if the Leafs want to upgrade in toughness and defense, it will be two of Johnsson, Kap or Kerfoot with Kerfoot as the only C so he likely stays and Dermott that need to go to do that. And it's not because of Lehtonen that you trade Dermott, it's because of Sandin.

Albeit against lesser competition but I think at worst he is a terrific 3rd pair LD on the Leafs who can move up in the case of injuries which do happen.

Sandin can play his off side though. As for Anderson, who gives a crap, he is just a depth player and the Leafs have a tonne of those.

There's the balance - Leaf fan says too much, Blue jacket fan says Columbus never make the trade. Anderson & Svard fit what the Leafs need, but apparently what they have to give won;t fetch that in a trade smile

unfortunately the Leafs will have to deal from that depth to move anything around to improve the roster. At end of day, at minimum Johnsson has to go just to be able to sign Mikheyev & Dermott, maybe Clifford on a too long, hometown discount.

How about Savard and Anderson for Kerfoot and a 2nd?
If you want Savard 50% retained you’ll have to add.

Columbus needs centers and draft picks. We have no interest in adding more wings or LHD....

I wasn’t saying anything on value, more on interest.

I think if you are the Leafs, you do that deal in a heart beat if you can get the retained salary. But need retained salary because at full value Savard and Anderson are around $7m in salary with only $3.5m going out the door. The LTIR is a bit confusing, but Dubinksy contract on initial deal was the sweetener to retain 50% of Savard. Columbus trades $5.5m for $2.15m in that scenario as they have a few guys they need to sign and need cap space.

Dubinsky is LTIR and insurance covers the whole contract.... Toronto probably does want those two, but Columbus would probably hold off. They need a 2nd line center, Savard and Anderson would likely get that.

I also don’t really think Toronto would do that trade, Kapanen is younger and on a longer contract then Anderson is so they would probably just want to keep him.

Honestly Columbus and Toronto aren’t good trade partners. We want a 2nd line center and Toronto doesn’t have one of those to trade.

I like your perspective. 2C's are hard to fine, kind of like Top 4 Defensemen that can play the right side smile I get tired of the Dumba and Manson takes, and look at Savard as being an alternative to that if the LEafs could ever make it happen.

Its possible that neither side makes the deal, for different reasons Even though CBJ get more value if it does not fit any needs why make a deal?
