Cap lowered to $78M with teams given 1 CBO to use.

NHL allowing teams to use CBO on contracts not on their roster after the deadline seems like massive cap circumvention, so in this post I'm considering that it won't be allowed. I've seen too many posts here with the idea of CBOing Vlasic and trading Jones to a team that wouldn't have a player to CBO themselves, like Leafs for example, Allowing it doesn't make any sense.

SJ uses the CBO to buyout Martin Jones.

Both bad. If we are rebuilding why do we get zero prospects for Labanc or Burns? Hertl also gets sold for a prospect you HOPE can be as good as Hertl and nothing more.

Honestly in a deep draft a 7th overall pick for Hertl is a maximum you could hope.

As for Voracek and Ghost, both of them are easier pieces to trade than Burns, which is why I acquired them. They can be moved further near the deadline. Burns' limited NTC makes this near impossible.

no way phi agrees and u can probe get more value for hertl, yes its a deep draft but you have no clue how a prosect is gonna pan out and hertl is established as a really good 2nd line winger

I agree with you about the Hertl trade he gets you at the very least that 1st plus a top prospect.

The burns labanc trade would be good for us to get out of that contract and get some pieces back.

There's a major difference between their contracts though, and that is the fact that Voracek's contract expires at 35, Burns's at 40.
