Bringing Back Sheary

Description
Even though I am a big Sheary fan, I don’t believe it would be ideal to bring him back cuz he’s a depth forward & who stinks honestly. However, we should probably accept that the organization will end up resigning him because they like his game a lot despite the fact that it is vastly unimpressive. For me, the maximum he should get is 2 million on any term. Even that seems steep. The thing is, if they resign Sheary, that might make Simon expendable for a return of value.

I’d bring him back for 2 million

I guess we’ve agreed then he’s a 2 million dollar player. If they do choose to bring him back, hopefully that’s the deal. He can’t handle the pressure of making more anyway I don’t think.

Matt Murray for the first overall pick would be AWESOME!!!! And I think the Penguins could sweeten the deal even more for Steve Yzerman if he budges. Like adding in two young players like Riikola and Simon and Murray. That would be extremely hard to pass up. You get a NHL Starting Proven Championship Goalie and a Young Proven player on both D and F to help out who have CHEAP salaries. They Sign Murray long term and then they are set in goal for years to come. They will still finish mow in the standings in the next 2 years so they get high draft picks and then as Murray comes into his PURE Prime age wise the Red Wings would be set to go moving forward.

      Now yer talking.

Simon is a really good top 6 Forward. He’s fast, handles he puck well, is a good playmaker, plays well defensively & is one of the best play drivers on the Pens.

Simon is not a top-6 forward. If he could score 20, he would be. He has everything else but finish.

The Detroit and buffalo trade are jokes but the rest looks good.

The most I'm paying Sheary is 2x2, anything more is a no go imo

      Quoting: MitchMarnerElite
Yeah I agree. 2 million max for him.

Can you please never mention Lafreniere again? That’s not a thing and PIT had no chance to trade for that pick! For the contract, 2yrs, 2.25M max or I don’t want him.

Pens should’ve kept Kahun and ran:

      Zucker-Crosby-Simon
      Jake-malkin-Rust
      Kahun-McCann-Horny
      ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

      Quoting: MitchMarnerElite
I don’t think the coaching staff was high on Kahun for some reason. Even if they didn’t want him, they could’ve traded him & a few other pieces to ANA for Rakell.

Kahun isn’t a naturally north-south type of player. He played mostly that way for Sully, and I liked him a lot, but the coaching staff recognized it wasn’t his best fit. I don’t think GMJR wanted to trade him, but it’s obvious he liked Sheary more. Erod was a throw in.

According to Pens writer Dejan Kovacevic, GMJR brought in Kahun during the off-season so he could replicate Sheary’s role. When he found out that Kahun wasn’t fitting in as well as they wished, he traded him for the actual Sheary.

I like DK most of the time. Occasionally he says something ridiculous. Like Rossi from the athletic said that Sid is better than Mario. I love both but that’s not even a debate. They are both top-5 players of all time but there is a gap that favours Mario.

I must admit Sheary hasn’t been as disastrous as I imagined when he first came over, but he also hasn’t been anything special. It just seems to me he’s Sully’s boy, so there’s a very high chance he will be back. If the season gets cancelled, that will probably be the case. What’d you guys think of this Sheary situation? What would a fair deal look like for him?

      @Pens3lieve @mhockey91 @claysbar @NoWah49 @Sebybbq @TabooPenguo

I don't think we got enough of a look at him to see if he can be effective for us again. I'd sign him to a 1 year deal under 2 and if he rejects, then he's not a Penguins. And I LOVE Sheary, but he's not nearly as effective without Sid.

With that said, if he can play on a 1st line with Sid/Zucker and then keep Guentz with Geno and Rust then it could be worth it.

Agree I like Sheary as well. If they can get him at 2 million or less, that’s decent, but regardless how much they pay him he’ll have to play with Sid. Hopefully Sid doesn’t decline quickly cuz Sheary relies on him undoubtedly.
