LD Depth Chart behind Mete
(overachievers only ,we got more doing good )
Romanov
Harris
Norlinder
Struble

RD in our depth chart behind Petry
Fleury
Juulsen
Brook

That's its for RD with all facing set backs
Fleury was sent down for being inconsistent
Juulsens suffering head injuries similar to Patrick Noloan or Blake Comeaus and needs time
Brook had a horrible start to his rookie year pro and just started playing well before the season was ended .(if he makes the NHL i'd be surprised as he's reminding me more and more of Matt Taromina as he just wont learn to defend his own end )

our RD is bad and unless we bulk draft another 7 D over the next few drafts like we did when our LD was this low
then right now our immediate need is a Henri Jokiharu type RD who's in the NHL playing a role but has potential to develop into a top 4 Regular and hopefully if we're lucky a #1 OA RD.

Connor Timmons makes a lot of sense to as does many players.
It wont be Juulsen though as he came back for 12 years after missing the year and on new years was removed from the ice and taken to the hospital after being boarded.
Since this incident its media black out on all Juulsen related content. When Media members asked their questions are skipped .
His career is likely over or if we're lucky he'll take time to repair and in a year or 2 come back stronger like Blake Coleman (but Blakes a stubborn guy who like to push himself where as Juulsen just not)

Juulsen is ahead of fleury. he returned just before the season was cancelled. looks like he is out of the woods. his injury was never concussion related it was nerve damage and they send would heal over time. he looked like an absolute beast in his return. his potential as a top 4 two way dman looks like he will be every bit of that and maybe more.

So here’s my question to you, if we traded either Tatar or Domi for Timmins would you still extend Petry or would you trade him.

Winnipeg should take that trade if Domi is willing to extend long term with the Jets, if he isn't they shouldn't.

Winnipeg rejects

Not sure why they would reject, they desperately need a 2C and there isn't many available, if there's no willingness by Domi to sign long term with the Jets then yeah its not a good trade for the Jets but if they could extend Domi long term they should make this deal.

Not saying its a bad trade or anything. The reason they reject cause they aren't selling Ville Hienola. He was playing top minutes this year at the beginning and got 5 point in 8 games!
Their problem is defense. If you put Vesilainen in their it would be a good trade

Yeah and I'd rather trade Vesalainen but if it took Heinola I'd do it, their defense really isn't the issue it's been made out to be and they have some really good defense prospects, they have almost zero center prospects.

In the UFA market this summer there's quite a few decent dmen available but there's almost no centers, they could likely sign a dman or two that would solidify the back end, to fill the 2C job it's pretty much gonna take a trade, if it took trading Heinola to solidify a harder position to fill I'd do it without thinking twice and I really like Heinola but if that's what it takes so be it.

if we got Timmons i'd trade him and target him as a UFA if Timmons succeeds .
If Timmons can walk in and be half as successful as Makar was he can help us when Webers inevitably going to be injured.
Play Timmons with Romanov and let them rise together.

by 2023 Weber's deal is a lot easier to move because his salary is almost all paid and the remaining 4 years has a recapture clause where 6/7.8m cap hits against NSH if Weber retires or is bought out.
(it would be less then 1m for a buyout vs over 6m as NSH absorbs just over 80% of it)

Moving Weber by this point is easy as can be which makes the idea of trading him in 2022 TDL a real thing
This gives MTL 1 or maybe 2 seasons where Petry,Weber and Timmons will form our RD while allowing Romanov-Timmons time to grow together into a 2nd pair role and eventually 1st pair.

Just saying its a very servicable option given the cap room we have the next 2 years after a deal to get Timmons

Chiarot-Weber
Mete-Petry
Romanov-Timmons(rise together , succeed together)
Kulak(although ideally we get AR/CT a mentor like Jo Benn or Mark Barberio )

by 2023 the dream is

Romanov-Timmons
Mete-Petry
Norlinder-Fleury(with these 2 looking to step up by 2025 or 2026. They'll play back seat to Mete-Petry until Petry's 37-38)
Harris
