This is absolutely crazy trading Marner who is a Leafs franchise player and makes no sense. If you were the actual Leafs GM you would be looking for a new job.

Unless the Leafs won the cup. We would only make this trade if we got the Pietrangelo signing done first though.

You might be right but it is just very disheartening to lose a special player like Marner who is just pure fun to watch every shift he plays in the NHL. The Leafs have been waiting for years to acquire a special player like Marner who grew up in Toronto and idolized the Leafs as a kid and now fans are willing to trade him away. Marner is everything that is right with an NHL player and is just pure fun to watch.

Trading to your rival for two 'meh' UFA rentals and a first (likely a middle of the pack pick) is well, "meh"!!

Added to this "proposal" is that at the end of the season (early April) you're also gonna lose a core player to expansion...
* Must protect either 7FWDs/3D/1G, or
* 8 Skaters (FWDs/D combined) and a G
* (NMC/NTC) are automatic
** KEEP = Tavares (NM), Rielly (NT), Muzz (NM) and then Matthews, Willy, A. Peter, Hyman, KK......Freddy??

Nylander is having a phenomenal year rn and that contract looks like a highway robbery rn
Marner is decent, not as flashy as last year but serviceable. And rn has had the worst of the 4 this year and Reilly and Anderson are hungry for the money because of how they have played

Anderson was amazing in the first half of the season but played pretty badly in the second half of the season.

Reilly was off this season because he was injured.

This may be unpopular but I wouldn't be opposed to trading Matthews for the right return (would have to be pretty huge though).

But I agree Marner is the most likely of the 4 to be traded.

Marner is not going anywhere until he goes into the Leafs and Hockey Hall of Fame.
