Ristolainen is not a defenseman. Martin marincin is a better player then him. Jokiharju is a very nice piece but not worth it when you have to take on that much of a cap dump.
Kerfoot, kapanen, dermott, Robertson and marincin>jokiharju and risto.
If you break it down Kapanen is a better winger then risto so the leafs lose that part. The gap between joki and dermott is not Robertson. The leafs lose that by an even bigger margin. It's not even close. Buffalo would have to retain some on Risto and the leafs would have to take out Robertson to make it even remotely close

Ristolainen has been averaging 25 minutes a night since he came into the league, consistently puts up 40+ points and is a big stong defenseman. Juolevi is a great piece being 20 years old and already a top 4 defenseman. Kappenen is Toronto's third RW and doesn't even put up as many points as Ristolainen does on defense. You are delusional to think this is at all true. Not to mention Risto is only 25 yrs old.

Joulevi is on Vancouver still. You are looking purely at points and that's it. Hes anything but a strong defenseman, barrie is probably better in his own end. Putting up empty calorie powerplay points doesnt make you good. Neither does playing 25 minutes if you are absolute **** in those minutes. If ceci is a better all around defenseman then risto then you know something is wrong. I could go out there and play 25 minutes on any team. I'm 18 so I guess I'm worth at least a 1st in a trade right? Not even close. Theres a very good reason why I'm not near an nhl roster. Trading for a guy who plays 25 minutes is setting the bar so low

Have you watched Ristolainen play. Up until they got Dahlin when O'Reilly was there the only time Buffalo was worth watching was with him on the ice. He skates very well, and is a good first pass defenseman, he has had some blunders in his own zone, but overall he is strong and uses his size well. His defensive struggles have a lot to do with the fact that he has had such a bad team, and bad goaltending around him.

Hes a terrible puck mover. Hes a fine skater but he doesnt use it for anything. Hes got a high PDO and it's even worse when you see the chances he gives up so goaltending is definitely not the problem. He looks like hes doing stuff out there but he isnt at all. Hes got horrible xG numbers and he doesnt know what hes doing out there.
