The contract will likely age poorly, but you're still *Likely* to get 3 or so productive seasons out of him.

He also plays the type of game that *should* age reasonably well. He's not going to be a 70 point guy when he's 38 years old, but he should still be reasonably productive.

If I were Buffalo, and I was intent on getting Couture (Honestly, he's got a 3 team trade list...do we really think Buffalo would be on there in the first place? But still...), I'd be willing to go Mitts and a top 10 protected 1st *IF* you could also tie a less than desirable contract back...maybe a 50% retained Okposo or something?

No one is giving up assets for that contract.

8 mil for 7 more years and he's already 30. Yes that's a bad contract

That's still a huge risk to take though. He's 30 already with 7 years left. Retaining on okposo would mean that couture's contract would be 10 mil for the sabres. Not really worth it to give up future pieces for that contract.

Also, he prolly wouldn't have Buffalo on the no trade list since he's a bills fan.

Okposo-wise, I don't see many ways that you get out of that contract.
