I don't hate the Bowey trade, but Edmonton isn't exactly shopping for more defensemen. There are other teams who would give you more than a 7th IMO.

You could get Gudas (probably) and Gagner (certainly) for less, but Lehner would require a LOT more... if he'd sign in Detroit at all.

You're not getting Lehner that cheaply especially with Detroit, Pretty sure Yzerman will be looking for a long term LD solution rather it be Krug or possibly short term with Edmundson we'll definitely need LD help especially not knowing if DDK will be back or not and we definitely have the cap space to make some major splashes this summer.

If Gagner continues to play like he did last night I was wrong about him, He played pretty physical and made a few nice plays with his body.

I agree with Bowey value has moved past a 7th for sure. He isn't great but he is a lot better than he was at this point last season. If Detroit doesn't get a good offer for him I think he is worth holding on to for another season.

I'm a bit of a Gagner fan, he's certainly an NHL player who has some + skills still. Smart player. I would give him another contract, but I don't think he'll get term - something like 1 year x $1.2M probably.

Not sure, but since Detroit is hardly a prime landing spot for a UFA - especially on a 3 year deal - I think you'd have to be well north of 7.
