If they want to make the playoffs they have to put Wheeler back at 2C.

Chevy had a pretty lame trade deadline, I've lost faith in him, can't see this team getting back to contender status with him at the helm.

disagreed, the best move chevy could've done was stand pat... the jets rn't good enough to be cup contenders right now, a good rental simply isn't enough to change it, no point trying to make the playoffs if u cant contend for the cup, just play the season out get a good draft pick (kyle conner wise hopefullysmile next year maybe samberg/heinola r ready little will be back, and try to get a d like homanic in free agency

They should be looking for a LD-man... I think having DeMelo, Pionk and Poolman as your right side is good. Certainly not great, but good enough to make the playoffs. They should be looking at Brodin, Brodie or even Edmundson

For instance:
Morrissey-DeMelo¸
Brodin-Pionk
Heinola-Poolman
Sbisa

Pretty good IMO

The guy has consistently shown he either can't recognize or can't fill the needs this team has so what makes you or anyone else think he's going to be able to do it this summer?

This team is quite far from being a contender and I don't see the GM who literally has dayoff in his name being the guy who's gonna return them to being actual contenders in one summer.

Trade deadline trades aren't just about loading up for a playoff run or adding to just make the playoffs, the Canes made trades that will benefit them for the next few seasons, Chevy could've done the same.

Yeah getting a good draft pick will be nice but in all likelihood it'll be around 12-14th overall which will take at least a couple seasons before they're contributing in any way to the Jets on the ice.

Standing pat was pretty much what he did other then throwing away a couple picks on rentals one of which was paying Vegas a pick to take their cap dump, that's some shrewd GM work there.. Lol

He's got a hole at 2C, at least two top 4 dmen are needed, four RFA's to sign, needs a backup goalie and the Buff situation to sort out, seems like an awful lot of work for a guy who does so little to address what's wrong with the team he's supposed to build.

So yeah, I've lost faith in Chevy, he's dug himself a hole over the last few seasons with some bad trades and signings, I just hope he realizes where he's at, stops digging and doesn't do anything stupid.

good point, didnt really factor demelo in.. feels like a bit of a wild card in him signing, just though the jets need a top 4 right and left shot d and maybe leave a spot for heinola on the left side, dont know if he's ready though, prob has a bulk up a bit more

last 2 seasons at deadline he traded for stastny and hayes, both were well received by the fan base the stastny deal worked out but the hayes one didn't and chevy got thrown under the bus but still it was the right move, go all-in while everyone was still fairly cheap, conner and laine being on their last year of elc as well as myers, trouba, chiarot and tanev needing new contracts he didnt resign any of them simply because he couldn't, conner and laine (along with a ton of other RFA's in the nhl held out) and after he signed them there was 40-60k cap space left (no room anyway), but then big buff pulled some bs which no one expected and the jets were forced to keep the cap space free for bout 3/4 of the season just in case he returns, either way the team greatly exceeded expectations with their destoyed blueline and 2nd most man games lost in the nhl

yup the canes added and gave up quite alot, but the jets dont have the cap space to add around 5 mill contracts (with UFA's and RFA's needing to be resigned)..... so yeah

getting a 12-14 overall pick in a 2015 comparable draft is pretty good especially with the jets track record, isn't like their window is shut after a couple of seasons

that cap dump is our 2nd line center........ (all those injuries...) demelo trade was good btw but yeah, he had to to something with how good the team was playing, glad he didn't go overboard

there r a few holes i agree.. but he couldn't do anything other than waiver wire pickups cause of buff situation

cut the guy some slack, he probably has the hardest gm job in the nhl, seeing the wgj often tops the worst city to go to in the nhl list.... **** very hard to get UFA's here and 0 sense trading for players with term who don't want to be here just f*cks up the locker room

The Jets have been a .500 team since last December and there was obviously something wrong in the room so there was no way he should've been adding at the TDL and given a 1st for Hayes, it was obvious something was wrong so if anything he should of sold off UFAs at the TDL. He overpaid for Hayes too, no way Lemieux should've been in that trade.

They knew at the TDL that Buff's cap space was there to use so yeah they could of added Trocheck.

There window isn't closed but a pick that's 2 years or more away isn't helping now and Scheifele isn't getting younger, if they waste his prime and current contract then what was that pick really worth?

Paying for that cap dump helped Vegas get Lehner, such a pointless acquisition and if they actually want to make the playoffs Wheeler needs to go back to 2C.

There were plenty of minor trades he could of made that would of helped but he doesn't do anything, dayoff is in his name for a reason I think.. Lol

Your last paragraph is really making excuses for the guy, there's plenty of good players that don't have trade protection, Trocheck doesn't for example and as for screwing up the room I'm certain it's already pretty screwed up due to the coach pampering the two babies that wear a C and a A on their jerseys....
Also you have to make trades to build a good team, theres not one team thats built solely through the draft. Can't believe they extended Maurice, what a mistake that was and Chevy shoulders some blame for that too.
