Fair enough, I just don't think Pesce would be as good away from Carolina's system.

I think the Canes would need to add a bit onto Pesce to get Nylander, as in a depth forward who can play in the NHL or a mid round pick (3rd/4th). Probably better off adding Liljegren and a 1st to this package and giving it a try.

Thanks everyone for the opinions on trade value between Pesce and Kappy. This was just trying to form a team for the Leafs next year that makes sense, I feel, for both teams. Now if there are other pieces needed going either way to make it fair, that's fine, hockey GM's know more than we do. Trading an offensive forward for a defensive defense man has huge risks...was he good defensively or was it system? and blah blah blah.... All I know is trading Schenn (high pick defensive D-man) for JVR (high pick offensive winger) was one of the best trades in Leaf history. Pesce and Kapanen for sure forms the bases of a trade that works for both teams.
