Sure, if the Kings could bring in Kuhlman in exchange for Forbort or something, I'm sure they'd consider it. However, Kuhlman isn't going to be the prize of the return in exchange for the 2nd best rental on the market this deadline.

It’s not like the trade was just for kuhlman. He was a piece of it.

For boat is trash. Legit garbage. Nothing. Kuhlman for forbort is like trading a quarter for 2 nickels with toothpaste crusted on them.

I wasn't suggesting that the Bruins should actually trade Kuhlman for Forbort. I also was not making the point that the Kings wouldn't look to acquire some mid-20s prospects. My point was that in exchange for Toffoli, LA's single best trade asset, Kuhlman wouldn't get it done and that they would instead want a younger, expansion draft exempt, 18-20 year old prospect.

He has less than half a season under his belt and is splitting time this year between the NHL and AHL. He is a prospect.

No matter what you call him, a 2nd round pick, JFK, and Kuhlman is not going to return Toffoli.

He played a few games in the AHL this year on rehab assignment after breaking his leg. He’s been an NHLer since being recalled last year. They played him in the top six in the Stanley cup final. He scored in game 6 btw. Heck of a snipe.

Both good points! Bruins probably dont wanna give up their first two picks in this draft, but there could be ways around this!!!
In all fairness, Kuhlman is the player going your way, and he is a young good RW with good top 6 potential. the 2nd and JFK were just to make is more even

Kuhlman playing on Boston’s 2nd line is an indictment of their lack of depth at RW as opposed to a reflection of his ability.

Every analyst including those covering the Bruins see him as a 3rd liner. He is a smart, solid, hard working player with no real holes in his game but does not excel at any aspect either. He has never shown the kind of offense at any level that suggests top 6. Any team would be glad to have this type of player on their team. But he’s not the type of player selling teams will be looking to add in deadline deals for a premium asset. At 24 with limited upside there just is not enough there for a team trading a highly sought after asset to be interested in.

That being said remove him from the deal. It’s a mistake to give him up when the team is desperate for RWs and 2nd and JFK (or Seny or Zboril etc.) is enough anyway. But it will take 2020 2nd.

I agree that Boston does not want to and should not trade both 1st and 2nd pick in 2020. Which is why bringing in multiple big targets and moving Backes is almost out of the question.

Moore is not worth a 3rd. 4th or 5th. Underated and solid, but still just a 5-7 type that is a bit overpaid

Switch Zboril to Anderson. Ducks have Fowler/Lindolm/Larssen/Guhle/Mahura on LD. No need at all for Z. They are shallow on RD. Yes i know, so are we organizationally. But Mac and Carlo will be top 2 for a long time. No hurry. They can draft another. I know, you don’t want to give him up. Real life does not work that way. You don’t get to dump off players you don’t want or can live without to get what you want. You have to give them what they want. They are no different than you, they are not going to take something they don’t want and does not help them just to help you. Take one of the secondary picks out too. And don’t listen to anyone trying to tell you Kase is worth a 1+ at this point in his career. That is ridiculous.

I agree both Kuhlman and JFK with the 2nd are an overpayment, but I wanted to make sure people know I am not a homer, because im not lol. In saying that: Kuhlman is still a solid player and has been playing well! Sure he is a 2nd to 3rd liner, but he is young so... Still has more value than u believe

Moore is worth a third. He just came back from injury and has been playing solid hockey. Not a super player, but he has an awesome contract given his skill, and is worth a 3rd

Bruins arent giving up Axel, he is their only RHD prospect.

Moore is not. If another poster offered you a similar player for a 3rd you’d jump down their throat and tell them it was a ripoff. You think every player on the Bruins is a notch better than what they are. 3rd liners are 2nd liners. Players worth a 4th or 5th are worth a 3rd. Players worth 3rd or 4th are worth a 2nd. Mediocre prospects are good ones. Good ones are great ones. Etc. You are a typical fan. ??‍♂️ It’s normal.

Axel. So what? As i said Mac and Carlo are entrenched as top 2 RD. Axel will never break into that and Clifton is a decent 3rd pair guy signed for 3 more years. Axel can be replaced in the next draft and never be missed. It’s a ridiculous notion that a player who won’t be needed for years and then will only play a minimal role can’t be moved for something they need now. Ducks desperately need RD prospect. B’s don’t. They are are not deep there but in no hurry there either. B’s desperately need RW now. Using a 1st/Anderson to dump Backes and bring back a RW with 20-25g potential and under team control, you’d pass that up? Over a player they don’t need and might never become anything worth holding onto? Crazy.

Marleau= 1 year, $6.25M= 1st rounder

Your logic:

Backes= 2 years, $6M Cap hit, can’t even play= less than a first.

Big difference between the situation the leafs were in the one the bruins are in. Leafs were completely desperate.

Value wise. Marco Scandella, just went for a 4th too. A little better player with bigger cap hit and less term. Derek Forbort in LA. Oesterle in Zona. Merrill in Vegas. Etc. etc.

Yeah and Scandella had a 4 million dollar cap hit, which is a much less attractive salary. (he isnt better either, they are actually nearly identical so Props to you for that comparison) So for scandella that proves my point.
As far as Forbort, he has split time in the AHL (on a not-so-deep LA defense). Moore is playing and playing well on a deep defense
Etc. Etc.

Not to mention, the 4th rounder that Scandella was traded for was looking like a top 5 pick (in the round)
So yes, because of everything we have both said, John Moore is worth a low 3rd round pick. (Fine I am sorry I did Ottawa, I intended to say "any team", but I failed to do that)

Lol, It proves MY point, not yours.

His 4m cap hit is an expiring contract, which to a lot of teams is less of detriment than being tied to Moore for 3 more years.

They guys i listed are all mediocre 5-7 types, roughly same age, roughly same ppg, roughly same Corsi ratings, grade out across the board very similar. The difference being contracts. Ranging from 1.4 to 4 and expiring to 3 more years. The other thing they have in common. You would not give up a 3rd for any of them. I’d hope not anyway. McQuaid had more value last year as an expiring contract. 4th and Kampfer. You might be able to squeeze a late 3rd out of someone who is desperate. Doubtful though. More likely to get moved in a package as a throw in as opposed to being moved straight up for more than a 4th or 5th.

And you could make the argument that Scandella is the best LD on the roster in Montreal. Or at least close, Chiarot, Kulak, and he are not that far apart. No team adding Moore is going to be able to say that.

Forbort was down on a rehab assignment.

Moore does not have 3rd trade value, no matter how you want to try to spin it to fit your narrative.

I know. I know. He has to, because you can’t possibly be wrong. Lol. Seriously. Look at you. Ya ya, he went for a 4th. But it might be an early 4th so that’s the same as a 3rd so of course I’m right. ?.
