Description
The sharks are 8 points back of the jets (2nd wild card spot, they also have a game in hand). With 36 games left on the season that is very achievable. That being said, does this team have what it takes?

Short Answer: Possibly.

Turned out that jones and dell didn’t suck, de Boer did. There getting goaltending. Enough I believe that would be at least good enough to get to the playoffs. The question then comes up if they can score/defend enough to win.

As proven tonight, if they can hold 2 and under they got a really really good shot of winning. I think with couture out for a few is gonna hurt, he’s been our best player with hertl. I think Doug Wilson has to make a decision. Does he believe in this team?
He can’t sit on the fence, we have to many time 30+ to pack this one in and just hope for the best. It’s either we in or out.

I think he will go in bc what we need is not that much of asking, a top 6/9 right winger. Who knows what happens. It was a good win and I hope we can build on this and sting together a couple before the break.

I don't see them adding a top six forward, i haven't look at who might be available, but i think the price will be to high to get a player that will significantly improve the team, unless they are really all in, but it kind of hard to do that after you look at the standings. When you say 7 points out it might not seem like that much, but when you look at how many teams they would have to leapfrog, its not looking good. If sharks miss playoffs, I think Wilson will make some changes, i don't see a tear down or sell off happening like some fans are calling for. If they miss again next year then there might be some big changes. This could just be a down year, it happens, and they could be right back in it next season.

Reminder that you guys played Columbus who have been decent as of late but still aren't great.

I'd say stay the course for the rest of the season. Call up some young guys to see what they are capable of. Problem is Ottawa bled the cupboard dry of prospects and players with the Karlsson trade so they are limited in who they call up. Chmevelski, maybe? SJS has the same problem as LAK. Aging vets on bad contracts with no cap space. Problem is SJS hasn't won anything to warrant suffering through the contracts.

They have a few guys they could sell to recuperate picks in either this year or next years draft (M. Karlsson/Dillon). Won't get a 1st unless they sell someone with term left (Meier/Hertl).

DellaJones have been less than NHL capable goaltenders for the past few years with a few flashes of being decent in the playoffs so I don't know where you're getting this information that they are suddenly good. Head coaching has little effect on goaltending performance and I would argue that Dellajones got Deboer fired. Bad goaltending can make a good team horrible.

They have little wiggle room when it comes to cap space so you can't exactly bring in someone of value at less than 1.5M either.

They went from a combined at .870 to like a combined .920. Wasn’t there fault, they had a bad system in front of them
