Sharks Decline unless you take Simek out of the deal.

Tampa is already in cap hell this summer, Tampa can't afford Burns @ $8 million per for 5 more seasons. Sharks aren't making the playoffs this season so no reason to trade both Johnson and Gourde and their full NTC to San Jose doubt either would waive anyways. Tampa is stuck with them like it or not.

Probably correct. Just assuming for the sake of this trade that they do waive their NTCs.

And considering that Johnson and Gourde (which are both basically signed to as long contract as Burns) take up to $10M out of their cap, acquiring Burns don't really make their situation any worse from what it already is...

Simek can be dropped if necessary.

Sharks could retain 500000 on Burns in exchange for a 4th round pick

I suppose TB could do that, but would it be wise for the Sharks to hold that money for the next 6 years?

Can Tampa move the Vancouver pick since it is conditional and the conditions wont be known before the TDL passes?

To be completely honest Burns is one of the last pieces we want to sell. Dillon, Labanc, Sorensen and Maybe...maybe Timo.

The thought of Trading 88 kinda makes me feel sick.

Yeah, but Burns is basically the only one of the star D-men in your team that you can sell... Karlsson and Vlasic with their extra-long contracts and NMCs are basically unmovable.

If you want to retool, or rebuild, Burns is the guy you want to move now when he still brings up good value - even at 35.

Yes they can, and the conditions are known.
But, as if all goes South for Van this pick could be a lottery pick in 2021, I doubt JBB will trade it.

You are correct for this year. next year they have to move 10 million to sign Sergechev, Cirelli and Cernack. At the moment Tyler and Gourde are the best options. By doing this trade next year TB would be without Palat, Killeron, Johnson and Gourde. Hard to replace all 4 forward positions.

I'd suggest moving Sergachev at the draft and re-signing Kreider maybe, but you have a point.

8 weeks ago I would have agreed. Sergechev has made great improvements. More physical, even fought, defensively much better. I remember Hedman at this age fans were calling him a bum. Defenseman hard to find and we suck at drafting defense so I am inclined to keep him.

Trading away Sergachev would be like shooting ourselves in the foot. The guy is 21 and has made such an amazing improvement overall in his game that he looks poised to become a Russian version of Hedman, less agile in skating but with more physical presence.
Hedman himself at 21 wasn't looking as good as Sergachev now.

Plus, people on here fail to realise that teams usually don't trade away their elite young players (especially Dmen).

Depends on the return moving Sergachev would bring, of course. But he'd be a hefty loss, that's for sure.
