Description
I know its been awhile since the Sabres made the playoffs but most Sabres fans are bipolar and that is coming from a Sabres fan. As I see it, the Scandella move was to make room for another defenseman to come up which will probably be Pilut. It was said by Drager that more moves are likely to come so im expecting picks for players such as Bogosian and Rodrigues. The Sabres could also move a defenseman such as Miller or Risto for a top 6 FW. Botterill has had the team for two years and with the cap space tight with multiple of teams you cannot expect trades to happen easily. I think Frolik was a decent move to improve our PK and our bottom six.

I like that DET trade. Don't know if they'd do it though

Detroit would probably just keep AA for that value. We don't need anymore RD with Hronek and then Seider coming up. Rodrigues is of no use to this team, we have plenty of 4th line duds. We have no reason to sell low on Athanasiou, that's what I think people don't understand. He's a RFA, so if we don't get the right price, we just resign him. His value is at a low point right now, so even if this trade is somewhat fair, if there's nothing particularly intriguing, we will just keep him.

Sabres probably arent trading Risto, and Miller himself isnt going to be a main piece in a top 6 trade

Sabres have no good assets to trade that won’t hurt the team except for Miller, we do not want to be trading our firsts and seconds later unless we are in serious contention for the cup. We shouldn’t be giving up our main core prospects and we are still over the cap. The only way to gain a Top 6F is to get a player that has a 4+ team friendly contract such as Zucker or Ehlers and we need to get picks for Bogosian and Rodrigues to clear some cap space, THEN trade for a top 6F if the price is right and doesn’t hurt our team but guess what we don’t have any extra assets to give up. So then it brings us to the off-season where we need to push the top UFA’s for team friendly contracts and get Reinhart to sign a team friendly contract too. People are ripping on Botterill for not making a trade and guess what it’s because Murray left him with this mess. He has drafted good prospects so far that need to get themselves together (They are only 19-21 years old people). The only bad thing that Botterill has made is the O’Reilly trade, people make mistakes but all his other moves have been great.

I dont care about 2nds and the d prospects except Johnson right now. If they move one of Samuelson or Laaksonen along with a 2nd, that doesnt kill them or their depth and gives the a good shot at a decent return. Borgen is the most expendable as he is a decent NHL RD but has nowhere to graduate to. I dont think Miller would hold more value then them, to a team that is selling. Miller may be attractive to a contender, but theyre not going to give up a top 6 forward, unless its a massive overpay
