Description
#1 Alexander Romanov

4pts (1g 3a) in 4 prelim games. Averages the most ice time of all Russian players, plays both 1st units of PP and PK. This guy is legit. Won best Dman of tournament last year, maybe will go for a repeat?!

#2 Cole Caufield

Pretty underwhelming WJ so far, 2pts (1g 1a) in 4 prelim games. Plays on the 2nd PP unit. Apart from team USA's 1st game where he played close to 18minutes, he's averaged about 14minutes a game. He did score a pretty slick OT winner though. Hopefully things pick up in the elimination rounds!

#3 Jordan Harris

Plays 2nd pairing minutes for team USA, has been in and out of both PP and PK units. Looked good not great so far, more offensive minded than I thought. Not overly physical.

#4 Mattias Norlinder

Hard to give a fair assessment with him. Sweden's is absolutely stacked on defense, and Norlinder has bounced between playing less than 10 minutes a game to close to 14 minutes. Not much for a Dman.

Romanov looks better than anybody we have on the left side... period. I just don't want to rush him. Even if he comes over next year, I don't want Julien sending him to the wolves. gotta make sure if develops right.

Concerning Norlinder, I've watch each SWE games and one thing I noticed is that whenever he's on the ice, he always does the best plays. Never made a mistake and he showcase one of his special abilities : his hands. 3 or 4 times during his games, he has made some slick dangle passing through other teams players. He's really skilled! If only he could get some more ice time. Honestly, he played better than guys like Lundkvist and Ginning.

He has the intimidation factor of Zadorov while playing like a Morgan Rielly. He's going to be good!

Yeah that's the issue with team Sweden. Norlinder, Bjonfort, and Ginning are basically rotating on the 3rd pairing and guys like Sodestrom, Sandin, Lundkvist, and Broberg are chewing up all the ice time. Don't see how any of those 4 top guys start getting less ice time to make room for Norlinder, I just don't see it.

Well I wouldn't go as far as saying he's as intimidating as Zadorov, who's 6'6''. But he's definitely got those Emelin vibes with regards to playing physically. You gotta know when he's on the ice. But yeah, offensively he looks great!

They've shown it many times where if a player sees they are coming up at Romanov, rather than trying to get past him, they stop on a dime and try to pass it instead of challenging him. It's pretty great.
