Gourde started his pro career in San Jose, well, technically San Francisco as a Sharks Prospect.

Gourde is solid 4th liner who COULD be 3rd iner on most other NHL teams and produce 35ish points .. but Tampa has ONLY around 8M in cap space for next year .. and will need to replace Shattenkirk and Maroon and sign Cirelli Sergachev .. who has been much better this year.. and Cernek. Not going to happen unless Johnson and Gourde are gone .. if Tampa sacrifices Killorn like they did JT Miller last year .. an epic mistake due to Gourde signing .. every Tampa fan should just stop following team and revolt against Vinik.

I ain't gonna say he's elite or a stud or anything like that but people are throwing around 4th liner and this and that are out of their minds and being completely over the top...

I know TB is used to PPG players and 20+ goals scorers like they are grown on trees but for the rest of the league, Gourde's point totals are top 6 and his career totals are higher PPG then some BIG names during that same time period. The only reason he's even being brought up is because of TB's cap situation moving forward. That's not Gourde's fault, that is the almighty Yzerman/Brisebois's fault.

Kid plays with heart despite not being a big guy, is solid defensively and gets a ton of defensive zone starts and puts up decent point totals every single year he's been in the NHL. The ONLY thing negative you can say is his contract protection that was given despite not really "earning" the right with so little games played by the time he was signed. Yet again, blame Yzerman for that, not Gourde.

Gourde has been good. If you want to trade him to create more cap space to sign more important players, fine, that's no different than what any other teams have to do but he hasn't been a problem for Tampa.

Gourde points PEAKED in a rookie year playing with Kuch and Stamkos .. my niece could have 50 pts .. year 2 he dropped 15 points!!!! .. and this year.. recall he was 27 year old rookie .. dropping another 15 points!!!! .. his production is like a ski slope .. trying to bring analogy Canadiens could relate to .. lol

Welcome .. and yes more than trades although that is main piece but trades tie into players level of play.. there is a distinct line between "realists and cheerleaders" .. guess my stance.
