Not sure you can afford those extensions with only Edler, Benn and Pearson coming off the books. Not too mention that the NJ trade more than likely isn't happening. Gonna have to bury Beartschi or buy him out.

as the extensions wouldn't be till the end of the 2020-21 season both Sutter and Beartschi's contracts are up too. so even if the NJ trade doesn't happen they have a lot coming off the books when the extensions for EP and Qh are due.
they will get them resigned and probably wont overpay like the leafs did.

ok sure . that's with you taking back salary in Kapanen instead of resigning Stecher(and he should resign for less than Kapanen and we need RHD) and by doing a buyout on Sutter you are tying up cap space when he will coming off the cap anyways(that's another 1.166m)
they have over 18m coming off the books from just 5 players and some will be replaced internally with players like Podkolzin and Juolevi and others.
plus they have another 14m+ coming off the next year so itll be easier for them to resign them than the leafs did.
