I'd love Byfield and the logic is OK but I don't look at sergachev as a cornerstone guy. I guess some of it depends on your view of velano. I think he's going to be a fringe 2nd line center and with Byfield and Larkin and rass as a 3rd he's probably expendable. I just don't like trading a first rounder before you get a real good look at him.
I agree, I would like to see him get some playing time, but I guess in this scenario that's just not possible. I like Veleno don't get me wrong, but I don't see him as the clear cut future 2C that everyone seems to think he is. Maybe in this team, but on a deep playoff team, Larkin is probably a 2C. And Veleno isn't going to be better than Larkin to take 1C. I think Ras has as good a chance of taking 2C as Veleno does one day. Like I said, all depends on the draft. But to me, if we draft a center, especially if his name is Quinton Byfield, Veleno becomes expendable.
Also worth mentioning with Sergachev, he is putting up .5 PPG, compared to Hronek's .56. and a +/- 0 (dumb stat but worth mentioning) with about three minutes per night less than Hronek, and again, on the bottom pairing so not a great partner. I guess Hronek plays with bottom pairing guys too pretty much but whatever. Not a perfect comparison obviously, but would you give up Veleno for a left handed, bigger Hronek? I would in a second. I think given the right opprotuntiy, he could really blossom here.
