Description
This is my list of top centers in the NHL. This teiring list is divided into three list. The LW row is the best of the best. The Center row is super star talent and the RW row is all star talent.

I have not added young guy who were drafted this year. Just merely trying to spark conversation! Where do you think everyone belongs? They also arent in order in their rows.

I think Zibanejad is forcing himself into conversation with the second tier but that's just a NYR fan speaking here. Dude is straight up lethal even without panarin on the wing. Such a good two way player and he's only 26

eidt: Right now he's playing on par with Scheifele/Stamkos etc-- i guess you could argue that those two are tier 3 too

I had a tough time were I would put Zibanejad. He started the season so hot but he recently cooled off and I think he was also hurt at one point. I think if he got hot again this year and finished near 80 points there would deff be a good chance he would be tier two. Also having bread man on your wing is a huge help to his game

I'm not sure if you forgot or if you don't think he should be in the last tier. But I think Larkin deserves to be in the conversation

Dylan Larkin belongs on the 3rd tier (especially if Dubois and Karlsson are on the list). Positive Corsi, plays against the top lines, awful save percentage behind him,

Ryan Getzlaf probably belongs at the bottom of the 3rd tier (for the same reasons as Larkin). He has a shooting percentage that is a couple of points higher than his career average, which inflates his PDO, but he's a positive Corsi player (barely).

Nico Hischier probably needs some recognition on the 3rd tier, but that may not last forever.

Mika probably needs a bump up the 3rd tier some.

I also think you can make an argument that Draisaitl belongs in the 1st tier.

Larkin I just forgot, he deff goes in the third tier.

Getzlaf just doesnt seem to drive the play anymore which is why I would keep him in the fourth tier which is still really good. Hes just slow and I dont see the goals coming anymore

Draisaitl still belongs in the second. I feel like the same with Matthews, Eichel and Barkov as they are all centers who could deff make the first tier but they need to prove it more. I would love to see Draisaitl put up 90 plus points running his own line

I think Scheifele, Petterson, and ROR are the top of tier 3. but they're not at the level of guys in tier 2. I like this idea though!

I won’t say it doesn’t impact him, but if you watch the games Zibanejad is making insane plays on his own. He did get injured on a Bergeron hit for about a month he was out, but he came back and has 12 points in the 11 games since then. While I don’t think he’ll ever get the the 100 points a season he’s a respectable point per game guy who probably maxes out at 90 over a full 82.

No it’s not, but it’s still 4 years until he’s 30. Also, I’ll admit that a lot of makers play their best hockey at 23-25, but there are many late bloomers that last well onto their 30s. Bergeron started playing his best hockey around 25-26 in terms of a full game (both offense and defense). He’s way into his 30s now and is still considered one of the better centers

Bergeron had 73 points as a 20 year old. He was a phenomenal player who then had concussion problems and then was able to overcome them

Read what I said— he started playing his best all around game. He may have put up 70 points, but he was also not a great two way player. He’s been a much better player post 26
