NHL and teams seem to think it will be more. Fridge said yesterday. The only thing that might lower it is cba negotiations, but because a bunch of players lockout protected their contracts, the way escrow works means that it would be much lower this year, so they may inflate anyway.

Lebrun has been saying that the CBA negotiations have been talking about a 2 mil fixed cap increase, which is that 83.5 number I mentioned as the low end. The natural increase that isn't limited is much higher and announced to be as high as 85, but could be as low as 83.5 if the CBA negotiations agree on it. Why would the Leafs want to get sign Barrie for about top dollar? He hasn't been that good. Lots of ways to acquire a Dman and cap. Doubt if Dermot would sign for so little for so long.

Dermott will get more money or less term imo
Engvall will get less money

Most teams budget for the worst case scenario. That way if it comes out better then they can get a better FA than they were planning. if it comes out less then they can continue as planned.
