Yup I am not a fan of Ceci, he is terrible and 5 million bucks is to much, Oilers can afford 5 million in added payroll for a 6th-7th d on out team. Lots would have to go back and nobody wants Ceci, everyone know how he is. Brutal trade Leafs would be better off with Zaitsev

Further more you guys had a way better team last year with Kadri Zaitsev and you were probably 1 game away from maybe going to the Stanley cup, that first round is the hardest

He certainly isn't a top pair defenceman. To say he is brutal and not an NHL player is just grossly over blowing his abilities. He'd be a fantastic bottom pair guy if he made 2.5 or less.

Zaitsev or Ceci, who do you prefer?

At their contracts neither but if we are talking about their contracts it's tough to say. I think Zaitsev was better defensively but Ceci has way more tools. It's a toss up, either would be good for the bottom pair.

LOL look at my past history, you will see what I think of Zaitsev too, thought he would be in the KHL by now, but still better than Ceci

And yet I don't think you'll get anyone who thinks Russell is better than either of those guys.

Imagine, just imagine your team if you traded lets say Marner and a prospect for Seth Jones. you can have Kap, Johnson and Mathews one line, nylander Tavares and one of your best young guys another line, Kerfoot as center on 3rd line and whoever with them, get a decent back up and have 4 million to spend still. Just picture that with Reily and Jones as your D core

I'd do a Jones for Marner for sure. I am probably one of the only leaf fans that thinks if a forward is traded it should absolutely be Marner. He is one of the best playmakers in the league but he certainly isn't worth almost double Nylander.

But I am not sure Columbus would want to do that.

Russel is fantastic for our dressing room as was Hendricks a few years ago, and he tries hard, plock tons of shots, plays PK really well obviously, skates well, just has no hands, we are happy with him on 3rd line and our D core has been good. PK is top 5 in the league as well. Works well with our young D. Been solid this year, plays both right if needed and left side. He will be a good 7th D next year

He is really isn't good. Wouldn't make most teams, I am not saying Zaitsev or Ceci are great but both would make most teams in the NHL. At the very least as a bottom pair defenceman. Hell Zaitsev would a terrific Bottom pair guy and Ceci would probably be above average. Of course only if they had a fitting contract.

Russel has played a lot of first line, 2nd line monutes for us in the past few years do to injuries, Sekera, Klefbomb. I am not a Russel fan at all, but he does look good on 3rd line, not 4 million dollar good either. If I am oilers i am keeping him until his contract is done and everyone is matured a bit. sometimes guys like that are good on a team. He only wants to play in Edmonton or Calgary, no where else, so he is not a trade able piece anyways

It's not a problem though because he's still going to score 90+ a year so it's not really that bad and will look better in the future. I just don't think he's worth 5 million more than Nylander who I think may be a bargain soon.
