Why would the Canes trade for the overpaid Howard....just to give Wings cap space? The Pens, Ericsson has negative value with his contract and Jurco his 6 points in 40 games is not an NHL forward. No, the Cup winning Pens aren't trading for Wings fringe players.

Nyquist is a fringe player? Essentially its Nyquist for Letang which is a good deal for both, in fact the Pens (who I hate) are getting the better of the trade. There is a reason Hagelin cant stick with a team, the Pens were lucky to catch lightening in a bottle with him, so the second part of that trade-Ericksson,Jurco and Pulkkinen for Hags is a steal for Pens.

You make a great point about Howard.

pens easily say no, can't afford to lose our only top 2 dman on the team. Nyquist would be nice but i still think they say no

no way pens are getting the better of the trade. Letang is worth way more then Nyquist. Its harder to get a top 2 dman then a top 6 winger. Letang also had more points the Nyquist last season with letang playing less games then him.

It's because he buried contracts of Vitale and Franzen rather than LTIR.

That said, this is still not the best. Tatar as a top 3 forward? Z as bottom 6?? Mantha over Athanesiou on the 4th line, when AA has more games played and Mantha needs top 6 ice time to grow regardless of competition? That's shotty at most.

This may be the most lopsided trade I've ever read on here. Complete garbage. Letang is An elite NHL puck moving defesemen who can play 30 mins a night. You saw what Adam Larson went for. Plus were giving up hagalin who is better then anyone else coming our way (except nyquist maybe) and a 2nd round pick. Complete junk

You want a puck moving D? Try Tatar for fowler
