Rangers need to get Smith off the 4th line and Strome off 2C....you’re halfway there!

Disagree on this-- Smith on the 4th line is fine, he's done an admiral job on the fore check and looks like he's gained a step since joining the rangers. Plus, he is doing pretty well on the PK logging over apprx 7 pk minutes and only being on for one goal (a deflection that couldn't really be helped). He hasn't registered a giveaway in two games AND has two PK points so that's a plus. Once Hajek is ready to take over some PK time, yes he should be scratched... but Hajek is still gaining his footing in the NHL, it'll be better to let him develop a bit more before putting him in that position.

Agreed...that a BIG reason Smith is playing is to supplement the PK...I would rather roll with him as 7D then just for that...rotate a real forward through RW4...and maybe they'll get something out of the 4th line. Being that they are 2-0 and the PK has been very good- I guess you can say Smith isn't killing us...and even if you think he has gained a step- everytime I see him try to carry the puck up the ice - to me he seems like he's trying to push a truck tire...add to that minimal offensive skill. I'm sorry- but this team needs more than a "clear the zone guy" on the 4th line.

i wonder if smith got paid 1-1.2mill a season instead of 4 mill the fans would actually like him. taking his contract out of it, he isn't hurting the team playing on the 4th line. better off with smith then haley.

having that said, i wish him and his contract weren't on the team lol

lets try not to overthink the 4th line players. these guys play maybe 5 mins a night of 5 on 5. sometimes even less.

I beg to differ there....one recent example: 4th line play was a big reason for the Blues' run last year through the playoffs and (of course) the Cup win
