Change that 3rd to Hallander or that 2nd to a 1st then you got yourself a deal.

Lol no, that's 2 mil in dead cap (if buried) for 3 years... Will probably be only slightly more than 2% of the cap for the last two bc the new TV deal and CBA (I think) and Seattle coming in will most likely push the cap North of 90 mil, that's probably a slight overpay imo

Why bring back Hayes... Lol, if you're going to bring someone back, bring back G. Wilson, but we have plenty of guys that will fill that role next year, A. Johnson can be there, Miletic, and maybe Lafferty and/or Angello can be that, and if we keep Blandisi he can be a 14th forward as well, and I'd rather any of those guys to Hayes lol
And MP will probably cost close to if not over 4 mil, bc the deal he took this year, especially over 4 yrs

No need for Edmundson, they will let JOP play next year. You can see that coming a mile away.

This team needs more speed. Is shows with Rust hurt.

Jugs and Hornqvist are pretty good bets to be gone next year. All slower feet players out.

I mean, it's a minimum contract. I wouldn't argue replacing him with any of the players you mentioned. As for Marcus, I get that he probably would initially want that much, but I could see him taking less. Term is slightly unreasonable I'll admit though.

I just don't think P.O Joseph will be ready next year. I expect him to be given a trial run next year, but I don't expect him to wow anyone. I think he's 2-3 years out of being a full time NHLer

Yes, we need more speed, but I don't think we'll be able to make any major moves until the Letang and Malkin contracts come off the books. They'll probably take pay cuts and then we could afford to bring in some major pieces to bolster the team

JJ is a physical defenseman in his early 30s. There's a strong chance that he could be seriously injured and be eligible for LTIR. The cap shows no signs of going down unless it's renegotiated down in the new CBA in 2022. Even at that, JJ would be in the last stretch of his contract and there would probably be compliance buyouts.

If this doesn't happen, buying him out would remove a lot of the burden

Ok? Doesn't change he sucks. No one is taking him to bury him or buy him out for 2nd and 3rd. When will PIT fans learn you aren't moving Johnson without a 1st or Hallander attached. If all it took was a 2nd and 3rd he would have been traded by now. Even next year at $3.25M for 3 years is bad for a defensemen who shouldn't be playing in the NHL. No one is taking that for a pick in the 50s and 80s.

Next summer... If you add up the cap hit % of what it'll be if he's buried for the entirety of the next three years (also unlikely) it'll be between 6-7%... Marleau'sMarleau's was almost 8%... That was considered by many to be an overpay, it used a pick that will be in the 20-31 range... I wouldn't put it out of the question that PIT misses in 2021 and that pick is in the late 30s to 40s... Plus a third... For a lower cap hit % COMBINED over 3 years... I see no way that takes much more than a 2nd and a third, much less our best prospect/a first+

Still highly doubt it. Think the lowest a team would do is two 2nds.

The way they talk about him, he'll be playing next year. If they can open up space for him, he'll be in.
As it stands right now. Dumo, Pettersson and then Joseph as the 3rd guy is all lined up. They need to ship off a defense man to make that happen.

Dude your player assessment is constantly or whatever you want to call it is always wrong. POJ is not on the team next year, no matter how well they talk about him. You also talked for about a week that Jack Johnson would be traded before the season and there are multiple teams interested in him. You need to stop saying what the penguins will do because you've been so far off with everything

really, is that why Marino is sticking with the main club?
what are you like 12.
You are so far off base it's not even funny.
There were a lot of people on here going off the same reports of JJ being traded. And if I were you I wouldn't hold my breath because it's a long season.
But then you will bury your head in the sand.

a broken clock is still right twice a day... plus some of your other takes have been just as far off... saying something along the lines of addison is overrated and should get traded, and you also said that Marino probably wont make it after one preseason game...

Addison is over rated and if you watched him play with the penguins in the preseason you would know what.
It's one thing to dominate at the CHL level, it's another to get anywhere at the NHL level.
There are all kinds of 2nd round picks with a name that go no where. There are reasons for that.
Addisons' is he's small. Really small. No where near his listed height and there are multiple people who have pointed that out, including penguins blogs like Pensburg.
He doesn't have the size to be an NHL defenseman. Those are some tough facts of life.
Get over that fact. You got forwards who are 6'4+ in this game. and he looks like he's 5'6.
You simply can't field teams like that at the NHL level. You will be hiding them in the line up their whole career because they can't play on their own end.
Evaluating a player is more than looking at his numbers. You have to project where he fits in against elite talent. Right now he plays against a whole lot of other kids who are not NHL worthy. They are smaller, slower, and not skilled. So he can get away with how he plays. He won't get away with that at the NHL level. He'll get run over, smacked into the boards, and shoved down in the scrum in front of the net.

As far as Marino, I did say they would both (poj) be on the team next year. I hold by that. They will indeed both be on this team next year. They both played really really well.
I don't know why some of you take that away from them.

JJ days are numbered. The second they can dump him, they will.
Hell they have already tried to do it with the Kessel trade. But go on.

No, you were constantly saying what is going to happen, and you were wrong.... again. You were so confident he would be gone before the season and actually thought teams were currently interested in him

What are you talking about when he is eventually moved? Im talking about when you said BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED. Looks like reading comprehension isn't strong for you. You're an idiot and continue to look foolish... It goes all the way back when you said the only way the penguins trade Hunwick is if they give up a good value in the trade as well
