Why on earth are you making that TBL trade? Liljegren and Dermott?

Cernak is a versatile stay at home defenseman with some offensive upside. He kills penalties. Dermott is good, and Liljegren might be. Leafs cant resign Barrie, and they wont resign Ceci. This is a proactive move. Sandin will replace Dermott on the left, Cernak will replace Barrie on the right. Better balance.

I'm super high on Liljegren and still ecstatic he fell to us, but if he is as good as you say why would Tampa trade him when they need good young D too and their right side is totally lacking compared to their left. This would leave Shattenkirk as their top Rd if I'm not mistaken.

It is an overpay and something Tampa might not realistically look into. I think Cernak is basically Colton Parayko in the rough and it will cost you.

You may think that but he has like half a season of playing 19ish minutes a night. I wouldn't be trading Dermott + for that. Maybe Dermott to trade for a different style defenseman.
