Okay so first of all Brodzinski has never had a legitimate chance in the NHL because of an injury last year, Goodrow is exactly like your bottom guys you are suggesting with a few less points, Chmelevksi is a prospect who was one of the best players in the OHL last year and has never played NHL hockey. Yes they arent middle six material, which is why we want a trade, but your guys arent any better than them for the role and suck compared to the other options on the market right now.

Jesse Puljujarvi was MVP of the WJHC, like four years ago. Chmelevski might have a bright future ahead of him, sure, but expecting him to play a top six role this year is a stretch. I think your plan of taking mid-priced salary dumps to replace the second line that left as UFAs this summer is a good one. Go with that.

Edit: or you could probably trade him for Boyd, if the Caps are looking to clear salary

Boyd is an AHL player. Why would we pay for him.
