Without Batherson, the Sens RW prospect pool starts and ends with Jonathan Davidsson. Throw Pinto in there, but he's still more of a Centre at this point.

The way for Ottawa to add some depth on the back end will be through the draft. Plenty of RD options will be available win that late 1st-2nd round range, and Ottawa will have four picks in that range.

As a Sharks fan I’d rather have Merk at this point. I know Batherson is a great prospect but I think Merkley will be special and we'll need him when Burns begins his inevitable decline in a year or two.

Batherson is a good prospect but it's fairly easy to find a decent winger (unless you're Edmonton). A quality RHD like Merkley are very rare and can basically only be drafted. Sharks would be crazy to do this trade
