Description
I know the wings dont feel they need to add another D man. But Brodie would be a clear upgrade over almost anyone they have except a healthy Mike Green. Two 35 year old guys with a year left on their contracts rounding out their top 4 right now. Would depend on if the Wings feel like they could extend Brodie. Glendening offers a viable replacement for Jankowski as far as a bottom 6 center, has more grit and physicality, is older though. Personally I just like to think of the havoc a checking line like Lucic, Glendening, Bennett could create lol.

Adding Zucker would solidify the top 6 for a few years, while Janko and the 2nd round pick is the value, Frolik is obviously a salary dump, but could help out the Wild for a year. Threw in a 6th round pick for Frolik. Could be a 7th or no pick since it's a salary dump.

Buying out Stone seems to make the most sense, replacing him with a veteran right shot Dman to play a physical style game on the third pairing like Lovejoy isnt a bad option. Though my guess is Lovejoy waits for teams to sign and trade players before getting legitimate offers.

Signing Vanek is just an idea for adding another right shot winger with some veteran value, could be Czarnick and another forward in the system serving as the scratch, just not a ton of RW options in the system unless a player like Dube or Quine are willing to try out playing RW. Glendening is also a right shot so he could potentially play RW if a player like Quine factors in as the 4th line C.

I heard that Frolik nixed that trade at the TDL and If we are going to run a left shot on the 2RW i would rather we keep our assets and give Bennett a chance there first.
detroits not going to pay for a rental, they are rebuilding. Glending is a downgrade on Jankowski strictly because of age.

Where is this rumour that Frolik nixed the trade? You think Treliving waited till the last minute to discuss a modified no trade clause after a player and his agent said he wanted out?

Bennett serves a better role as an energy player. Hes had plenty of opportunities with different coaches to jump up to a top 6 role. Frolik doesnt get on that line just because hes more responsible defensively. Frolik has arguably been the better player both offensively and defensively.

Dont forget Janko is set to hit UFA status after 3 more seasons. Hes likely to be trade bait during the Seattle expansion draft.

And the Detroit trade would be contingent on Brodie extending, as I mentioned above lol

Like I said I heard, i don't have a link or anything. Think I read it on HF boards somewhere.

Bennett played top 6 in the playoffs and was great, despite our poor performance. I just don't really see any Zucker trades happening now that Fentons gone and frankly think we can do better with our assets

Ya the old heard it through the grape vine answer lol.

I think the team stays relatively intact other than a move of Brodie or Frolik for cap reasons. Honestly, I'm not sure there is a genuine upgrade over Frolik at this point.

yeah ive decided to kinda let cards fall during our 2nd arbitration window rn, then theorize after.
but there are a couple teams where Frolik fits pretty well like NYI ~ they need a middle 6 winger and a 3C. St. Louis ~ they need a middle 6 winger for winger/someone for the PK and a 2/3 LD (Kylington), they have Schenn available. Tampa ~ wants a top 4 RD and have an abundance of top 6 wingers like TyJo.

Ya it's just trade value plus contract stipulations. Tampa has been giving out a lot of NTC's. Might hurt them a bit down the road.

All great to have tax breaks, doesnt mean jack if the player is traded lol

You're probably not going to get much better then Zucker for the assets you're willing to part with.

No I don't think the Flames are @$$ up over a barrel but really if it was your team and you had a top 6 winger in his prime on a decent contract for a few more seasons would you want your GM to trade him for Jankowski who is at best a 3C, a 2nd and an expiring UFA?? You probably wouldn't be too pleased about it.
I just don't think those are that valuable of assets to get you that, maybe if the Wild hire Chiarelli it could happen though.. Lol

I'm not a Wild or Flames fan for the record.

I dont think anyone values Jankowski properly. Such a weird player to value. Hes either sch!t, or has strong value. Dude out there scoring PK goals, solid defensively, or he just "sucks" because hes not putting up 50 pts a year. Hes at 1.65 Million a year. Probably will sign for 2.35 AAV for a few more years and still be an RFA after the deal.

If Zucker isnt worth Jankowski and a 2nd round pick, then he probably wont ever be traded. Look at the other trade values for him. God Dam. Fire Fenton because he was the reason the team sucked....
