Big Trade with NYI - What do you think

Description
On 2 years, MTL will have Caufield, Domi, Gallagher and Suzuki for the top 6. We can't keep them all and trading Gallagher, Domi or Caufield seems impossible to many. Suzuki must go 1 on 1 for Dobson. Tatar for Leddy is at the advantage of NYI, but Beauvillier is better than Juulsen, so it's even at the end. Dobson will eventually be able to take Weber's decrease of minutes. New York needs more offense, which Tatar and Suzuki are perfect for. Juulsen can develop as a 2nd-3rd pair RD. Picks could be add.

Dobson is untouchable. for the islanders to even entertain it kotkoniemi and a 1st would have to be included.

IMO NYI declines. Dobson is a better prospect than Suzuki. 1st pair RHD vs Top 6 C/RW. Tatar for Leddy is pretty fair but you could say that Tatar has more value. Beauviller for Julsenn is in MTL favor. Change Dobson for Wilde so maybe NYI would consider it ?

Kotkaniemi AND a first ? KK was drafted #3 and Dobson #12. Not saying draft position is everything but after one year KK has more value than Dobson IMO. It is close. Saying that we would need to add a 1st he just a joke smile !

Great RHD prospect. Good size, speed and can score. If he could solidify his defensive game (which isn't bad, just okay), he could grow into a top pairing defenseman. I put him only slightly below Dobson.

RHD just like Dobson (same age, both played in CHL). I would say that Dobson is a A + prospect and Wilde is a B+/A- prospect. Still very solid. Suzuki for Wilde would make more sense than Suzuki for Dobson (Im an habs fan too) just trying to be realistic !

There’s no reason to give up a defenseman who is very likely to have a similar impact as mcavoy, heiskenen, werenski in their 1st season. No one said it was fair , but in order to pry a blue chip D prospect (who is an elite all situations D) from the islanders, it would take a lot.

Oh interesting.
When is he ready for NHL 3rd pair?
When is he ready for NHL 2nd pair?
When would he be for NHL 1st pair if that happens?

100% agree with you. That is why I suggest to replace Dobson by another prospect in my previous answer because I feel like NYI wont trade him (because of the reasons you just said).

This make no sense for the islanders( dobson walhstrom, kieffer bellows and simon holmstrom) isnt getting traded. But your value of dobson vs kotkaniemi isn’t good. Actually if montreal was traded kotka for
Dobson islanders would have to add

Obviously not ready for the NHL quite yet. But he was drafted as a long term project, and he had a huge jump forward last year. He's poised to join Bridgeport and make a huge difference there. I'd say he's still a long term project, but he's shown time and time again to defy expectations and prove everyone wrong.

Dobson hasn’t played an NHL game yet , but all indications he will be an elite defenseman. If it were 1 for 1 trade, I would compare it to Seth Jones / Ryan Johansson trade. IMO Kotkaniemi will be a 65-75 pt center and Dobson will be a pietrangelo type defenseman. Obviously Nashville/cbj both happy but I’d build around Jones over Johansson any day.

Honestly that is very subjective but yes your ranking is not bad. Some NYI would tell you that Wilde is WAY better than Suzuki (because they saw Wilde play a lot) and some Habs fan could do the same about Suzuki been WAY better than Wilde. IMO KK and Dobson are at elite (1stline/1stpair potential) and Suzuki and Wilde are maybe more 2nd line/2nd pair potential. Wilde will likely need more time but has a better chance of sucess than Suzuki I would say. Suzuki has prooven more (draft year + 2 vs +1 for Wilde) than Wilde.

As I said, I don't know Wilde, but when we look at the draft rank and Suzuki's MVP of CHL playoffs, saying Suzuki=Wilde is surprising, don't you think?

Wilde is a potential #4-5 D kinda like Alzner but with more heart .(that being said he's more wreckless then Alzner )
he's a good prospect because he's big but he can skate unlike Alzner so he's a modern day stay at home D with Value

Just not to MTL who has to much RD depth to the point everyone forgets about Harris who's a solid all around D prospect
Aho or Toews would be more interesting to MTL

Yes absolutely! Kotkaniemi have made the nhl at 18 year old and that very tough. He have to work on is speed and getting bigger but he remains me a lot of alexander barkov at the same age
Dobson will likely be playing one more year in junior but he was dominant last year and he will continu on this path this year. Extremely reliable on defence but isnt the most offensive defenseman remind me of hampus lindholm
Suzuki is very interesting he got a lot of skill and awesome hockey iq but need too work on is speed will likely play for laval all year with the young rockets and dominate the ahl! Patrice bergeron is a good comparison
And bode wilde is not even close too nhl but have a lot of upside great offensive instinct but really need to improve is defensive ability too have nhl succes

Kotkaniemi is comparable too alexander barkov. Size are very similar and they both play a 200 feet game very well. He will be a 80 point centerman selke type so he is Way more valuable than johansson. For dobson he will be a very good defenceman but too say he will be elite is a bit too much. He doesnt have the offensive upside to be up there with the norris winner. Both both player will have great career a have no doubt about that

I forgot about Harris. But look at this:
This year = Weber (23 minutes) + Petry (22 minutes) + Juulsen (15 minutes).
Next year = Weber (21 minutes) + Petry (21 minutes) + Brook/Juulsen/Fleury (18 minutes)
2021-22: Weber (20 minutes) + Brook/Juulsen (19 minutes) + Brook/Juulsen (19 minutes)
From 2021-22, I don't think there will be a 1st pair defenseman. Dobson could play this role, but it will be hard to get him...

they'll more out the loser of the top 4 battle between Juulsen and Brook then move onto the battle between Fleury and Harris who will be just peaking around then in their development . plus we'll draft more prospect for RD i'm sure .

i think you nailed the phasing out of Weber's minutes down to being primarily a PP guy and 2nd pair RD
i just dont think Juulsen lasts past 2021-22 especially if he gains value in that time like Petry has playing a 2nd pair role behind Weber.

Harris could be a unique Find due to his history as Primeau's go to guy on D in their NCAA time together . Harris was the Gorges to Primeau's ,Price

You haven’t watched toews play enough if you think jokiharju is better than toews. Pulock, toews, and Dobson are the untouchables from the islanders.
