Detroit isn't giving a 4th for Vlad he hasn't been the same since leaving TB. I do like Vlad and a 2nd for a 4th and a 7th.

Do you honestly think the Rangers are going to PAY for someone to take Vlad? He is is still a good third liner that is maybe 1.5M overpaid. The additional pick is to take on the horrible contract of Smith.

A 4th for Vlad is a very fair deal. Most other AGM teams are trading thirds for him. If DET doesn't want to part with a pick, then sub in a B/B- tier prospect.

Detroit has 2 or 3 prospects who will most likely start the season in Detroit. With a few older players they can't get rid of means Vlad will be taking time from prospects. So unless you want to take Abs, Helm or Neilson Vlad isn't worth anything to the Wings. So you can keep him.

He's a pretty low risk, high reward player. If Detroit isn't the place, there's lots of teams where he could fit. But his value is not negative to the point of adding picks to trade him.
