  1. Hague, Nicolas
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2020 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Great prospect coming to MTL and a late second rounder. Hague might become a Top2 defenseman in the years to come but Vegas wants to win it now.
VGK
  1. Petry, Jeff (2 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Petry is Top4 capable of handling big minutes and has an obvious offensive upside, MTL keeps 50% of the salary so Vegas would end up having an RD Gardiner with no heatlh issue for 2.75M$x2yrs. (Couple years older yes but McPhee said he's in a WinNow mode)

Ehlers comes in to solidify Top6 at a cost but a cost that we can afford. Already signed on a long term deal that's fair.

Cap casualty, frees up almost 7M$ on cap and get someone that can play anywhere on your line-up (Coach will love him).

I'm all ears but that be my starting point of negotiation. I'm taking a cap dump, he gives a top 6 for a middle 6.

I don't think Vegas can even afford Petry this year at 50%.

I think a pick or a decent prospect would be needed. They are in financial difficulties, but not in hell.

My original offer was Byron and a 1st for Ehlers but the cap dump made me remove the pick. (It's more a disrespect of Kulikov than anything)

If they trade away Reaves and puting Glass in the lineup they get just under the cap.

Sucks ... I thought ACGM was something else than pure speculation...

Actually they can if they move Holden. Which should be added to this deal.

Har-dee-har. If that's the case why not trade for Crosby instead? He wants out of Pittsburgh and Rutherford will retain 50% as well as take back all the salary you want. Source? My own personal speculation....

Its one thing to speculate on the team the ACGM is doing, its another to do so with another teams to make your own trades work.....

Yes. They could do a lot of things. Whats your point? Right now, they could not add Petry. If they trade the entire team away to make it work, yeah then things obviously change.

The crux of the point was that Vegas would have to make some additional changes to an already tight team just to make this work. Not to mention not be able to sign Gusev if they were still interested in doing so.

Meh, not buying that sorry. If they don't want it I'm sure someone else will have talks for him, it's not like that trade is changing the face of the franchise this year (In fact it would even make our defense less effective for the first half of the year at least the time Brooks steps his game up). For the same cap hit would you keep a fourth line grinder or a Top3 defenseman on your weak side? I'm just going with my judgement.

PS: Not trying to **** on your POV, I'm sure before me there's already been dozens of guys doing the kind of trade that TVASports would like the Habs to do.

As someone said (Don't remember where doe), even Gusev doesn't believe in Gusev otherwise why would he sign his rights 90 days prior to being UFA to a team with no cap space and that messed up the last russian that went there?

"Not to mention not be able to sign Gusev if they were still interested in doing so."

My comment wasn't based on whether Gusev signs or not. Regardless of whether Gusev signs or not, Petry doesn't fit in the cap of Vegas without more trades happening. I'm not sure how people are misinterpreting this???

Yes, theoretically any team could offer sheet Marner for $10 million and move salaries. But that's not what I'm saying. I'm offering a fix to the trade that is simple to make it under the cap. All they do is add Holden to the deal or ship him to a 3rd team. Nothing crazy or pie in the sky about it.

BTW, not my proposal. I don't think this trade would happen. I dont think it actually makes the most sense for either side, but Mtl specifically.

I understand. Not actually talking about the trade value itself or anything. its the principle of the original idea of why I said Vegas wouldn't be able to fit Petry. If additional trades are done, that changes everything about anything. If its part of this team in the ACGM, we can follow anyone with OP's logic. If he starts making other teams ACGM's in the background, how are we supposed to understand the logic? At any time he could change the narrative to fit the trade proposals.
