You are not going to get Marner for less than 10.5 mil at least, and you need another player for a full roster.

I disagree. I believe Marner is worth that much. 61,69,94 points in his first three seasons. He is a play making winger who is incredibly creative and plays a decent 200ft game in my opinion. He controls the PP, and can kill penalties. I think you are undervaluing a player like him. Im not saying he wont take a home town discount because he can make so much money with endorsements, etc in Toronto. But to say he is not worth 10 mil AAV minimum, is not fair to him.

You take a guy like Panarin. Who is also a play maker and creative player, but does not play as much as a 2 way game that marner can. Panarin has not eclipsed 90 points yet either., and he just signed to a 11.6 mil AAV. He took less to play in NY too, so he had better offers than that. Also Marner is younger, which adds value.
