I don’t really think any of this is gonna happen, but we’re 85 days from the season and I’m bored.

Schenn trade:
Schenn is a great player and was a big part of the cup run, but I don’t think it’s worth it to sign him long term. Sure we could use him as an “own rental” but with how strong the rest of the division is, a repeat is so unlikely that perhaps it makes more sense to trade him for a first in a loaded draft as well as a young LHD and reload for future seasons.

Gusev trade:
It would be a lot easier to replace Schenn if you know you’re getting a replacement in Gusev. It’s risky, but I think he’s got the potential to have a rookie season similar to Panarin and that’s a chance every team should take. I don’t really know what the cost would be to acquire him, but I assume most teams are lowballing Vegas and if they could get a former 2017 first rounder and a reclamation project in Fabbri they’d do it.

Edmundson trade:
With 3 LHD’s under contract, Edmundson is expendable. The Braun trade shows that teams will overpay for defensive defenseman with playoff experience and Edmundson is way younger.

Schwartz contract:
He’s the heart and soul of the Blues and I don’t see that changing 3 years from now. Hopefully he can stay healthy between now and then and continue to drive play at an elite level while also putting up points. It’s possible that he could be cheaper than 7.8 million, but the contracts that have been handed out this year don’t suggest that. Either way, Schwartz is too important to let walk.

Gusev contract:
Lets assume Gusev is about a 65 point player who dominates on the powerplay. Maybe we could let him walk if Kyrou can take over his role, but if we can keep him we should.

Thomas contract:
Lets assume Thomas is a 55-65 point center who drives play very well. He’s Armstrong’s “golden boy” so I assume they pay him handsomely.

Kyrou contract:
I suspect Kyrou will be somewhat like Athanasiou was his first few years as a 35-40 point player who can sometimes break open a game with his speed. The Blues could trade him in a package for a top LHD, but he’ll still be cheap and provides an element that nobody else brings.

I can't imagine Montreal having any interest in Samuel Blais.

Don’t you think that’s way, way too much for Gusev? Vegas would run away before they were caught for theft. Lol I think Fabbri is enough. Even he might be too much for an unproven NHLer

Yeah, it’s kind of a lot but I think it would be worth it

I wouldn't do the trade for an unproven Gusev. I'd rather allocate his 6.5 M plus other salaries towards an offer sheet for Matthew Tkachuk. I would keep Gusev in mind as a backup plan but with the cupboard full of draft picks why not shoot our shot on the STL boy.

All seems pretty realistic. Really don't think we're in on him at all, but just for fun. Slight overpayment for Gusev, I think just Kostin and a 3rd would be fine, Fabbri can be moved in a separate deal for a pick/prospect. Schenn should definitely not be in our future plans. He will fizzle out in a few years and we should sell him now while he still holds value. Pretty good haul for him.

I’ll be very impressed with Armstrong if he trades Schenn. It might be tough to sell to fans, but he’s not in the long term plans and using him as an “own rental” this year would be dumb considering how strong the division is.

I like Schenn and what he has brought during his tenure, but if Army re-signs him to a long-term deal, I will be really upset.

Same, his value is through the roof right now
