Maybe not but the very comparable Aho signed for 8.45 X 2, is Marner really entitled to more?

I really don't know what he's worth
But honestly then if I'm Ray Shero I'd OS him at that $10.5xxx number. It's 2-1sts, a 2nd, a 3rd. He'd have to give somethibg up to Nsh to get the second back. But it would be worth it from Jersey's side. The firsts are less a need with Hughes and Hischier here already, they need wingers and LHD.

The bridge idea for two years is so when the cap will apparently go up massively with the new TV deal then Marner gets paid. Leafs will match anything that is less than the 4 first rounders and then figure out the cap aftermath. Depending on the deal the they may take the 4 firsts and play with the extra cap room. But who's to say?

I'm 99% sure Marner wouldn't sign the offer sheet R 10.5m. It's been rumoured the Leafs have offered that amount. And Marner just might think it's better to be a Leaf for less than be a Devil.

So sign dzingel and gardiner... keep your firsts. The people on here are so one dimensional about picks. What happens when you get to the playoffs and want to load up or patch an injury? Yup that’s right... firsts are a great trade asset to sellers at the deadline.

Marner will cost 4 1sts in an offersheet bottom line. Anything else is doing the leafs a favour. If you want to pay marner mcdavid money and give up four firsts... be my guest. Leafs could make those picks and space work just as well as the devils could.

You guys seem to be contradicting yourselves here.
You say he's not worth more than Aho award at 2x $8.45. And then say we're doing you a favor at $10.6.
I don't care which one, but pick!
And if rumour was offered $10.6 and he didn't take it, how is less than $9 going to work?
Sounds like you're just praying that a team does the work for you and you can move on, no?
And speaking of giving up firsts for dinged up players for a PO run, u just gave one away to take PM. Wow, how's that gonna look when the Canes need a piece to get a deep run and they use your first to do so?

Hmmm... don’t remember saying any of that. O think marner is worth about 9-9.5m on an 8yr fair value. Going by Aho and kucherov. But those are both very good deals. So maybe you din’t Get that... and we won’t.

But less term means less money. Do you not understand that?

8.45 is fair comparable. I do think that the Leafs is offer offer about 10m. But it doesn't really matter if Marner was offered 10.6m and turned it down. Leafs can rescind that offer and Marner (and the Leafs can just wait). And if no offer sheets are forthcoming, what are Marner's options? Play in Europe for 2m? Sit out the year? Take a Leaf offer? There are eight high priced RFA this summer. Only one has signed so far Aho. So the Marner and the Leafs are in the majority.....no contract signed. Marner doesn't have to sign any contract he doesn't like. And certainly the Leafs don't have to offer a contract they don't like. And the reality is there just might two three teams that have the cap to offer Marner, or Point, or Rantanen or Laine. Even those teams would be scrambling next year to get cap compliant if they overpaid a RFA.
