Because he wants more money? TSN are saying marner wants the AM comparison, but there is no world in which they are comparable. That is like saying kapanen is comparable to Nylander (which he is most certainly not).

His comparables are based on play, not who he picks. Aho is as good as him, more vital to his team and a centre. The Aho deal is a perfect benchmark to base a fair Marner contract on.

Don't just listen to talking heads in suits and believe every word they say as fact without looking at it for yourself.

Matthews is the best 5v5 scorer in the league and if playing with quality linemates that help him (ie Nylander and not kapanen) plus a full season he would easily be the top scorer on the Leafs.

Marner was pulled up by JT while AM was pulling others up. Add to the fact that centres are worth more due to position and goals are worth more and Mitch is not in the same their as AM, but rather Aho (seriously he is never talked about and extremely similar to Mitch)

That is true but I believe that dubas wouldn't accept that. He will for sure look at true comparables and prove that marner isnt worth more then aho. Marners agent called the Matthew's contract bad so why should dubas give that to marner. There is no more offersheet leverage and that threat now helps the leafs and now that they pretty much have their cap space set for next season they know what the max is they can pay him
