Do you have their 2017-2018 stats? I know Granlund had a down year last year and am curious how they would compare. I know that Granlund has had higher point seasons than Kreider and is one year younger.

That's surprising given Granlund's high 60 point seasons. So it looks more like Granlund is a good supporting piece on a line and Kreider is a better driving force on a line. I think Granlund's next contract will likely fall in the $6.5-7m range. I wonder what Kreider would want. I don't really want to pay either more than $6.5m though. The deal looks better when you look at those stats, but I still don't know if the preds would see the value in giving up Granlund + two 2nds. I do think Kreider to the Preds is a very interesting idea though. If they get Kreider without losing Granlund - these lines would be great:

Forsberg - Johansen - Arvidsson
Kreider - Duchene - Granlund

I don't think Granlund has much surplus value for the Rangers given where the team is in their rebuild right now. The point of a Kreider trade would be to get younger since we're rebuilding. His contract is probably going to be something like 5-6yrs x 6-7.5mil. I think realistically a package for Kreider is something like Tomasino + 1st + 3rd or roster player.

If that's a more realistic price, I'd rather wait until he's a ufa to try and grab him. That's a high price for the preds to pay when they've got a pretty barren prospect pool right now outside of Tolvanen - Fabbro - and now Tomasino.

Totally understandable. The point of the trade would be to capitalize on your cup window which is right now. I don't think he hits the market, if he gets traded he's resigning long term with that team as long as it's not like....Edmonton lol.
