tell that to a jesse who has publically said he wants out of Edmonton. Better to trade his rights than lose him for nothing.

So you want the Leafs to give up a middle six winger with top 6 upside and game breaking speed for a 3rd pair RD and Yak 2.0?
No. No it does not work for both parties

Vancouver is going to overpay one of Myers or Toronto (for Zaitsev).
Canucks fans should pray that it is Zaitsev if the numbers we are hearing on Myers are true.

Myers and Zaitsev are basically interchangeable. Myers has been riding off of one good year when he won the calder and has been sheltered on WPG's 3rd pair whereas Zaitsev has been in the spotlight of Toronto. They have different perceptions because of their situations, but they are very similar players.
Myers numbers are looking like they will be in the 7's easily, so you'd rather a perceived upgrade over Zaitsev (even though it isn't) for 7@7+ vs Zaitsev for 5@4.5?
VAN would be 9001% better off losing a 2nd or whatever for Zaitsev

(Red and + in the Dzone are BAD| Red and + in the Ozone are GOOD)

Im not sure on Miller. Seeing what cap dumps are costing right now and the fact that Miller was a healthy scratch in these playoffs tells me he won't cost that much

Hi James, looks like your new to the site, welcome!!!

The oilers trade as @Random2152 pointed out is a bad one for the leafs. As it stands right now leafs have enough cap space to trade belrown for whatever return (as long as it doesn’t bring cap back ... 3rd or 4th is the going rate here) and sign marner for 10m (on any term that works) and be cap compliant. If kapanen is going to be traded it had better be as a piece to get a top 4 rhd. Leafs have a ton of winger depth so puljujarvi is not needed. Not saying I would never take him but the leafs do not need to replace winger depth. If you are trading Kadri then we may need a new 3c but the main focus is a partner for Rielly. Zaitsev could be just that but if he is moved we will need a defensively sound right shooting Dman who can play 20+ minutes a night.

Your Vancouver Trade is a little not too optimistic. Zaitsev means a lot more to the leafs than other teams. But he does have positive value, just not a lot.

Your Vegas Trade is close value wise but I doubt if they are going to be intrigued that it will have cap coming back. Their ask is a 2nd and a B type prospect. Something close to that with no cap hit would work well.

It isn’t far off... zaitsev was a defensive work horse who played 82 games and makes 650k more than miller who was a healthy scratch more than once...

Vegas would consider a deal that returns no cap. The better the deal the more likely. I don’t think teams are calling on miller like they are here on this site. 2nd pair with a defensive juggernaut partner is his potential. Would be good in the PP but his best quality is his shot which is not comparable with Muzzin’s.

I just can’t go over every agm... I’ve seen so many down right stupid one’s lately where I start to comment and I’m just like... **** this, this is dumb enough that someone else will shoot it down for me. Whether it be one way or the other.

This Guy’s been on here for a week so he has a legitimate lack of feedback. If I can nip one in the “BUD” then I wouldn’t have to bother with 30 replies later...

BTW... lmao at get off my lawn

I'd mostly love it because if we do trade Brown, it's probably for a pick to dump the entire salary. Vegas is also strapped, so doubt they'd do that deal just to save a couple bucks. Miller played up and down the lineup last year in vegas, from being a healthy scratch to playing up in the top pair. Inconsistencies aside, I don't see a ton of other RHD that's affordable without losing someone significant in our lineup.

Oh yea I think Myers will 100% be overpaid and is overrated as it is but advanced stats dont say everything, Myers is still a solid #4 rather than Zaitsev being a solid bottom pairing guy, both are/will be overpaid by at least 2 mill. Van has money to spend. If they can get Zaitsev for a 3rd that may be more enticing than Myers but who knows what they'll end up doing. Will probably end up being a mistake regardless

Myers and Zaitsev are both 4/5 guys. Neither one is solidly top 4 but can and do fill in when needed is my entire point. Myers should be getting paid something like 3@3-4 (same as Z)

I have to disagree here, though it may be unpopular zaitsev is a 2nd pair 2 way guy. If you give him the proper support of course. If he is deployed correctly and I truly hope he is next season with the leafs or whatever team he is moved to. He got a bum rap here in Toronto. He took the money (can you blame him) and then was pushed into a role that wasn’t his.

When I think back of all the plays he was criticized for I just think back and wonder why???

Do you remember when he dropped his glove and picked it up and then the leafs were scored on? See if you can find a video of that highlight and re watch if. Then ask yourself why are Dermott and Matthews both under the icing line and how zaitsev was still the first man on the shooter.

There is actually an excellent clip of zaitsev’s playoffs on Twitter that is reminiscent of pesce. But he gets zero credit. Other than... he’s okay with muzzin, who was a tire fire in the playoffs... how many bouncing pucks did he jump up on only to have a two or 3 on 1 go back against zaitsev...

You're on the path to realising that the Leafs Dcore is good enough and that we should use the cap space to acquire Zucker to help play team defence. I'll be waiting when it finally dawns upon you.

Oh you’ll be waiting.

I think zaitsev deserves out, but only moved if we can get a top 4 rhd on a similar cap hit and situation back. Either that or an avenue to get one.

It’s plain to see that dubas hasn’t ruled out bringing zaitsev back. If the return isn’t there and the spot is left vacant then dubas’ hands are really tied.

Maybe it is an idea too radical for most (like how offsides are no longer needed or how positions are an antiquated idea), but you'll get there (as soon as Liljegren steps up) soon enough.
