Well good comparisons to him are Skinner and Nelson. He's production level is somewhat close to Skinner, but Nelson is his team mate and actually outscored him last season. Nelson got 6, Skinner got 9, so I'd say $7,5M is pretty close to the real deal. Especially if he becomes UFA.

As of right now, I agree with you. Getting that 1 year on Laval to learn pro-hockey and play together would be hugely beneficial. Unless they absolutely rock training camp and prove that they MUST be in the NHL come next year, being in Laval under Bouchard would likely be smartest move. If Habs can find a way to sign Duchene then that would be even stronger incentive to keep them down and train them more.
