Parayko is a good player but this is quite the overpayment.

Everybody is for sale ... it's just a matter of the price ... and Parayko is expected to stay 2nd D-pair behind Pietrangelo ... and: an offensive-minded lefthanded D with 1st pair potential can be a missing piece for the Blues with Bouwmeester already 35 and Dunn (maybe) not ready for 1st pair load ... and filling up their picks won't hurt the Blues ... so Fletcher should aggressivly ask for Parayko (at least to do something Hextall wouldn't have done)

While everyone is for sale giving a team loads of pieces doesn't equal enough to make that happen. Whould you, one for one, trade Ghost for Parayko? The answer should really be yes. Every other piece you've added is meaningless to the Blues (or pieces they could acquire other ways if they even desired that). Therefore the Blues are now worse on paper.

When you say everyone is for sale you have to add meaningful assets. Would you trade Provorov and Ghost for Parayko? Then you're probably (maybe?) getting close to the sort of overpay would have to make to get St. Louis to consider moving a core young player and it becomes less sensible for the Flyers. Adding lots of small things together doesn't work.

As a Flyers fan i say yes ... as Blues GM i would say no.

Generally, true ... with the exception when you can adress a lot of small needs (and I see a lot of small needs for the Blues) you can get in their head by adressing all of them in one.

Edit: Fletcher must(!) build a win-now team, there's no more patience for long-term teambuilding ... therefore i see no reason why he shouldn't throw in additionally the 1st round pick and / or prospects like Rubtsov, Laberge, Ratcliffe, Strome or even Frost. Does this make sense longterm? No, but as i said: he has to build for win-now. And for this is Parayko the perfect fit (in my opinion even better as 2 of Subban, Karlsson, Trouba ... ).

But again this deal does very little for the Blues. Hartman is going to be a 4th liner for us next season most likely. Vorobyov struggled massively in a bottom 6 role, Graves is a mediocre ECHL player we just took in the trade to balance out the number of contracts exhanged contracts, he won't even be qualified.

There's a huge difference between 'win now' and 'all in'. To keep the window open you have to have a farm system. Giving all of that away for 3 or 4 years of cup contending is dumb. What Fletcher has to do is fill the gaps with quality NHL experienced players whilst mainting SOME of the farm. Hayes is a good start if he signs here (sounds 50/50 currently). A 3rd line RW would be good. And of course a top 4 D. Parayko would be great but there's just no need for the Blues to move him. Trouba would be the most ideal and most available player IMO - he's young enough to be good for a long while and provides the type of skillset we need. If you can get Karlsson though? You do it.
