thats a hard no on the Avs trade. A dman they dont have any use for and a bottom 6 forward in Strome for a younger with more potential bottom 6 fwd in Kamanev and a 3rd? Yeah thats not goign to happen

Its very weird when it comes to the Rangers fan base, they seem obsessed trying to send bottom 6 and unwanted Dman to the Avs on this site bc at one time there was a rumour Avs might have liked Namestnikov as a deadline pick up, the reason is bc Avs were hurt at the time and needed to help out while they made their playoff push

Avs have more 3rd lien guys than they can handle right now but its almost every Rangers roster, Strome, Namestnikov, Vesey are being moved there

Rangers dont need another bottom 6 center. They need a second line center so they can shift chytil to 3c and howden to 4C. Lias is going to shift to left wing this season.

yeah I don't get trading D to you guys I think you're set there. But I think the belief is that guys like Strome/Namestnikov/Vesey are a slight step up from say...Calvert and Nieto (Personally I think Namestnikov is really the only one who blows them away). I wouldn't take it personally, but you guys were pretty top heavy this year (like Dallas last year). So the perception is that adding middle 6 scoring depth would help. Now who knows what happens next year if the team tries to bring in Kaut or Greer or Kamenev. But as it stands, I think that's the idea...

Who's this guy? Chytil is in your top 6 this year whether he's C or LW---that's basically a lock. What you need to do is upgrade your wingers from Strome/Namestnikov/Vesey/Fast/Lemieux to guys who can actually play in the top 6.

Right now all you have is Kreider/Buch/Kravtsov/(hopefully) Kakko.

Why would you force chytil into 2C he isnt ready for that. Throw him on second line wing ok maybe. If he is your 2C going into the season that is a big hole.

I dont really see them as step ups, when its not Calvert Nieto that you are comparing them roster spot wise, its Soderberg, Compher, Jost who are getting those Top 9 minutes. You arent trading for those guys to play on your 4th line which Calvert, Nieto, and until hurt Kamanev were holding down.

Its not like they wouldnt help but at the time sure maybe when Kamanev and Nieto were injured, but not now. No room for them

As soon as I put that shatty trade in I wanted to revert it but took off on a plane haha. Colorado is set on the right side. They need to move one of Staal, shattenkirk or Smith. Chytil will be in the top 6 for sure. Strome did have a solid year playing mostly third line and value is high right now. Colorado needs to upgrade their second and third lines

Bro you have some weird values for Rangers players. I know Shattenkirk had some of the best metrics among Rangers defensemen last season but him not being on the team and having all or part of his cap hit gone is much more valuable to the rangers than the return he might bring in a trade.

I agree it would be a hard no from the Avs. Gorton, JD and the entire rangers brass and fans would jump all over this trade.

I like Jost and Compher. I'm skeptical of Soderberg's ability to replicate this year's numbers going forward (he had 18 ES goals compared to 13 Expected ES goals) and I'm not sure if he's a great 2C to have with your guys aspirations. But the only internal way of changing that would be moving Kerfoot back to 2C.

Hard disagree there. I would say that's true for Staal. But Shattenkirk is still a very good hockey player. My theory is that the decline in Rangers defensive performance is tied directly to Ruff. I'm not comfortable backing down on Shatty's value until we get a season of him with Ruff out of here...

Soderberg has been a 45 point guy the majority of god career. Last season was pretty par for the course for him.

Kerfoot is a winger in this league, doesn’t do well at 2c

I mean I guess if we discount aging curves, the fact that he's going to be 34 next year and the fact that he shot 3% better than his career average then yeah i can totally see it. Are you not concerned?

Not really, bc hes going to be a 3C in terms of minutes next season, ride him out and hes done. Still adds solid value to the team. I would like for them to sell high on him based on last season but if they dont, him finishing his contract with the Avs would be cool

I agree on the sell high thing. So who takes the 2C mins since Kerfoot is staying at wing?

My thoughts and what some of the beat writers are alluding to that its Jost, the Org still really believes in him. Even when linked to Hayes as a UFA, from one of the guys who covers the Avs professionally he said what he was told that they would roll out a 2nd line of Hayes Jost Rants with Hayes moved to the Wing. Then it would be Landy Mack Kerfoot unless they snag another guy, such as Marcus Johansson or Ferland on the 2nd round of UFAs once their prices drop
