Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

First line - we’ve already seen the chemistry they have together. Proving they are a more than capable first line

2nd line- speed meets speed w/ scoring meets speed w/ power. And entertaining young and incredibly fast scoring line, obviously dependent on the draft (I really like cozens if Byram is off the board)

3rd line- 2-way power and playmaking, like much of the roster is still quite young but seems to me to be a very competitive and complete 3rd line

4th line- is a nice two way line. Could see svechnikov slide up to the third if hirose or rassy aren’t performing as well. A nice mismatch line

1st pairing- Trouba finally comes home as a ufa. Paired with cholo, I like Trouba with a free skating defenseman as opposed to DK even though I think DK is a better LHD.....for now

2nd pairing - a nice place for Hronek to thrive offensively. With dK covering his back he should have free range to join the rush and contribute offensively

3rd pairing- I’m a little torn. I have Bowey here for his defensive game but this one is completely dependent on how everyone develops. Perhaps Kaski comes in and proves to be an outstanding offensive defenseman. Perhaps Lindstrom proves to be a better option after developing in the A in 19-20. Mcisaac looks like a really good two way d in my eyes so I would like him on the roster as soon as possible

The question mark is obviously goaltending. I believe Bernie can be an outstanding stop gap and mentor but obviously a lot depends on the development of Larsson. Perhaps needs a little bit more time in the ahl of which Detroit could sign a veteran backup on a short term deal to push Bernie. Perhaps bring back Howard for another year if need be.

If you were a player and weren’t traded to where you wanted to be would you not do anything in your power to give yourself options both contractually and geographically? He’s a rfa with arbitration right now who will have no control over where he’s traded, which is why his value is decreased because there’s a plausibility that he’s only a rental. And in a year he’s a ufa that can go anywhere he wants for open market cash. Players have power too.

This isn't the NFL. That rarely happens that a player will hold out an entire year. He will be signed and he won't hit free agency. That happened with Mark stone because of the state of the senators at that time, but the jets are actually a really good team.

It’s a gamble for sure. He seems to want to test free agency and Det seems to be the place he desires so it could happen. He could also sign a arbitration one year deal again and be a rental trade to a US contender And love the city and sign an extension. It’s a gamble!

Then they have awhile to facilitate a trade with a team in which he can negotiate a contract with.

It’s not really common anywhere but it’s happened a few times recently in the NHL. Nylander last year, Trouba and AA the year before. Players in RFA status have only one bargaining chip and they’ll use it

1) If the Jets take him to arbitration then he can select a 1 year term.
2) if the Jets negotiated a 1 year deal with him by qualifying him so they don't lose him to UFA a year early.
3) If the Jets don't negotiate a 1 year deal with him he can look for an offer sheet (when the Jets qualify him but he wants a higher raise)

so yes he can will get a 1 year deal.

but the 6 year x 7.5M is low it's more likely 7 years at 8.5M to sign him.

Trouba's agent would be limiting his value and thus his salary if he were to only negotiate with the few teams that can afford the Jets ask instead of the whole league for nothing other than salary. Not to mention the league salary cap going up in 20-21 means more teams have cap space (bad contracts expire means a few more, etc, etc). Do you really think a guy whose had so many issues with Jets management is suddenly going to do them a huge favor on his way out the door and limit his value? That's naive.

Any team can throw a 1 year offer sheet that at $6,341,151 that will make the Jets match or only get a 1st and 3rd for him. San Jose can do it if they lose Karlsson and be really only giving up a low 1st and 3rd. That would be a healthy raise for Trouba next year anyways.

What's your point? The notion that Trouba is going to sit and wait for DET to pay him is still naive. WPG can trade him, Trouba can't reject a trade. DET isn't the only team Trouba wants to play for. Fact is DET should be somewhat aggressive if they want him.

He's not going to wait for Detroit. He doesn't have to sit and wait as he can sign an 1 year offer sheet or accept the Jets 1 year qualifying offer. He can make it known he's going to UFA and the Jets will be stuck like Columbus Blue Jackets were this past year. A cup team isn't going to dump him they'll keep him and make a run just like the Blue Jackets did with their 2 UFA that are walking this year. Trouba then goes to UFA and negotiates with all the teams in the league choosing where he ends up--not making a choice among 5 or so teams only.

Detroit can wait for UFA as Trouba isn't going to agree to a sign-and-trade deal. That notion is being put out by Jets management to raise asking prices. Detroit can offer something all the other teams can't: playing for his hometown team so all they have to do is match term and $'s. Not saying it's 100%, but certainly is a big advantage or don't you remember Suter? Rafalski? etc etc.
