if buffalo was able to find another winger/center and a goalie along with what you made they could be a very good team with a solid future

TBsays no, they need to add a RH defense not trade our best one. Risto remains a question mark, Cernak was very solid as a defensive defenseman.

I mean he's scored over 40 points on our **** team the past 4 years... He'd prob reach 50 if his minutes were kept the same on a better team, although I think reduced mins would serve him well

On the surface, I would probably lean towards TB saying no... however, when you look into their contract situation, they will most likely not be able to afford both Cernak and Sergachev when they become RFA's in 2020. They won't have much $$ coming off the books in 2020 and will still need to resign Cirelli, Joseph, and most likely Rutta along with Cernak and Sergachev. Unless they continue trying to trade current contracts they have, it is simply not possible to retain all that talent under the cap. Even despite this, it seems like a fair trade. Cernak and Risto/Nelson come close to being even, and Miller is worth a late 1st/early 2nd round pick. Risto would thrive playing with Hedman and I bet that would make him reach his potential.

They have Luukkonnen and their 2019 7th overall pick coming in 2020, so that will eventually be covered. Future looks bright if they can make the right moves this off-season

Tampa is in a win now mode. Miller vs pick is a loss. Cernack vs Risto maybe an improvement maybe not. People think that TB will pay a lot to move Callahan. Buyout an option at 2.6 mill next year then 1.7 mill.

Miller vs pick is a loss, but where are they going to find the space to sign Point at 10m? You can't keep everyone, and getting a 1st for salary that needs to moved out anyway is a really good return.

In order Callahan, Gourde, Killorn, Palet then Miller. All contracts are close there are some NTC but that can be worked. We are lacking size and heavy forwards. Miller is the best for that role.

That's a fair assessment, but you wouldn't be getting as close to a return for Gourde/Killorn I don't think. I haven't watched enough TBL games to pinpoint this, but would you say Miller is a natural Center or Winger? His Faceoff stats over the past few years are quite good and he takes around 9/10 of them a game so I would say center but I'm not positive

It is hard for me to say. Yes he has a history of being very good at face offs. For the last year and a half he has mostly played wing. Point, Stamkos, Cirelli are are top three. We even have Tyler Johnson, a center playing left wing. Miller was under utilized last year, moved up and down the lineup. I would like him to be first line with Point and Kucherov. The others will return less but still a good return in picks or prospects. Gourde is a center scored 20 plus goals each of the last two years. Killorn a two way defensive forward that has always put up 40 plus points and never misses a game.

What is your opinion of Risto? Many bad opinions and some say he just needs a change and right environment.

He's a player that I sadly think as a Sabres fan (we are way too used to this) will be significantly better as soon as we trade him. His entire career he has been on a poor defensive team with not much goaltending (ie. his terrible plus minus). All he needs is a solid defensive partner and sightly reduced minutes and he will be a good top 4 defenseman for a long time. He is great on the powerplay and can really lay hits physically, but he could just use a partner that is much more positionally aware defensively than he is. Hedman would be a perfect partner and I think Sergachev could be in time.
